This company was chosen through the King County Housing Rehabilitation Program. They agreed to do all of the above for under $25,000.00. For siding, I made it clear from the beginning I wanted cedar shingles on the upper sides of the house (through pictures). They tried to give me hardi shingles (cheaper) and we spent several days arguing until the city brought out the contract to remind Mike, the owner, that it states "cedar shingles". For the tongue and groove, about a year after they were installed, several started to droop. I was worried they were going to fall off entirely so I tried to call Mike. No response. I have since had to contact someone else to nail the boards up, at my expense. For the light fixtures, they removed an old fixture and replaced with recessed lighting. There was existing recessed cans in the kitchen, which were all white, and they installed silver/white. I didn't feel it was too much of an issue at the time since that was the least of my worries. Now, in 2013, boards are falling off my house. I contacted another siding company and was told the boards were installed incorrectly. Many nails were not secured into the studs so the boards are either falling, hanging, or loose. He also mentioned the fact that the white backing on the first row of cedar shingles shouldn't be showing, because they too were installed incorrectly. I tried to call Mike again and I left a message. No response. I will pursue this with the city, since they still use this company, and contact the manufacturer of the siding to see what can be done. All 4 cannot continue to work with a Housing Program, people who can't afford expensive repairs, then not respond to possible building violation issues.
