TILE BY BILL

I am really pleased with the new floor. We redid our entire laundry room, including new walls, plumbing, and flooring. I had the old laminate floor ripped out prior to getting estimates for tiling the floor, so the space was pretty well prepped for the install and not as unlevel as I thought it would be. When Bill came over to give me an estimate, he gave me good advice about ceramic tile (versus other tiles), grout, places to buy tile, etc. He was one of two installers who told me about a grout that had a permanent seal, and wouldn't need to be sealed annually. I got 4-5 estimates for our 100 sf, "L"-shaped room (from $450 - $1200) and I went with Bill because he used the good grout, had a reasonable quote, and really seemed to know tile. He was also willing to do it over a weekend, which was perfect for my schedule. He came on Saturday morning, completed the tile reasonably early that afternoon, and then finished up with the grout Sunday morning. I had one small problem with the work--over the next week, I did the finishing touches on the room, including the trim work. There were a few places I had to chisel out excess grout along the edges to complete the finish work. But it came off easily enough. The spacing and layout is excellent, the grout color was well chosen, and he did a fantastic job cleaning up and explaining how to care for my new floor. I would certainly consider him first for any future tiling job.

After making five phone calls and getting actual estimates from two other contractors, we decided to hire Bill to help us upgrade our bathroom. He was absolutely fabulous from start to finish. First, his price was the most competitive (one other contractor was going to charge us five times as much!). Second, he does the work himself, which we really liked. Third, he has an artistic sense and is obviously very knowledgeable about tile. Basically, he really knew what he was doing. Fourth, he was responsive to calls, punctual, and seemed to have no problem dealing with being around our kids (who are sometimes very wild!) Overall, he was friendly, competent, worked efficiently, and did an outstanding job. He was able to fit us into his schedule between other larger jobs he had going on, so everything was completed even faster than I had hoped. We will definitely use him again for any other tile projects in the future. In fact we were considering putting tile in our kitchen, just so we could use him again!

Overall impression was poor. He took on the job of re-tiling one wall of shower stall and giving me a complete job. It ended up with me doing about 2 days of work myself, making the shower door fit and repairing some drywall he was supposed to have done.

Bill was on time, friendly, and polite. He's highly skilled and knowledgeable and works quickly. His grout work was done too quickly, and I had to scrape and re-grout several areas where grout showed pin holes and was inadequately applied.

Outstanding. Did exactly what he said he would do, when he said he would do it, and for the exact price he quoted. I would strongly recommend.

HE IS FRIENDLY, GAVE GREAT RECOMMENDATIONS AND INFORMATION WHEN I ASKED FOR WHAT KIND OF TILE TO GET. HE GAVE ME A 2 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE TILE. EASY TO REACH BY PHONE, RESPONDED QUICKLY TO CALLS AND QUESTIONS. BILL DOES ALL THE WORK HIMSELF, SO YOU ARE DEALING DIRECTLY WITH THE OWNER. HE GIVES FREE ESTIMATES, SO IT IS WORTH A CALL TO HAVE HIM COME OUT.
