Mike and his crew were prompt, pleasant, professional, quiet, unobtrusive and efficient. They took precautions to deal with the necessary "messes" that happen with such a job and cleaned up well. Some of the windows were large; behind a steep roof, and difficult to get to, but the crew readily had a plan and made it happen beautifully.
My husband and I are so happy with our new windows. We are now able to clearly see the beautiful property we live in.
I had hired an excellent painting company to paint my previous house. They had the job done in about 2-3 days and there were NO FLAWS. Unfortunately they were no longer in business.
In comparison, Mike and his guys took over 2 weeks to paint my house. In prepping the house, they did not remove the light fixtures from the house before painting and instead used tape around them. The fixtures ended up with paint on them and the siding around them had bare spots. I found drips and sags especially on the trim , peeling paint on one of the doors, drips on the window screen,, over spray on the foundation of the house and a paint sprayed bee's nest. There was a thermometer on the back of the house that they sprayed with paint, making it unuseable so it had to be thrown away. They left the bracket there though I asked them to remove it. Overall, the paint job looked sloppy and the flaws were obvious. It was like they just did not care how it looked. There are still pieces of blue tape on my patio cover. (Too high for me to reach). They did come back to to repaint the trim because it was so uneven.
Had I known the poor quality paint job they would do and HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE THEM TO DO IT , I would not have hired them to do it. I think they do a good job on the other things they do and they are nice people but they are not painters.
I don't like to write bad reviews, but I would want to know these things if I was thinking of hiring them to paint. If you are not particular about your paint, I guess you wouldn't mind, but when I pay a professional price I do want a professional job.
I had received a bid of $3,650.00 from another painter and he had a long list of references I could check and sounded like he would have done a professional job. He could have started the job immediately. I do regret not hiring him.
Mike Kuschel and his permanent crews, and concrete subcontractor, took our ideas and thoughts and created a workable plan for a useful and beautiful sunroom/greenhouse addition to our home. Mike created numerous professional detailed drawings to facilitate the permitting process, and prior to the start of construction provided responsive consultations and additional drawings in response to City of Hillsboro planners' questions and concerns. Mike had previous experience in sunroom construction and photos of the end products, hence was an excellent resource for recommending suitable glass panels and maximizing Energy Trust of Oregon and other government rebates and tax credits. We ended up utilizing highly insulated double pane Low-E glass for ceiling modules and standard double pane argon-filled panels for wall modules, providing overhead heat rejection during the summer months, while allowing wavelengths of light year round through wall panels necessary for promoting plant growth. Mike also adjusted dimensions and positions of each surface to maximize the size of the interior given the limited space we had to work with, while adhering to building codes without having to endure any heavily bureaucratic variance processes as were recommended by other builders who bid the job. Although this complicated the job, Mike professionally and enthusiastically fulfilled all expectations (and beyond) at the quoted price, which also represented the best value from a price-competitive standpoint. Heavy rain accompanied by driving winds since completion of the room demonstrated Mike's thorough grasp of proper weatherization, a rare and valuable skillset not often well understood by builders in my experience. Condensation collection and drainage is yet another example of features Mike incorporated to improve on our basic ideas, and could have been an ongoing problem had it not been for his first hand expertise on the subject.
Throughout the work period, despite his company's escalating business volume, Mike remained communicative and sensitive to our required job completion date, assuring that our citrus trees, strawberries and other plants have a warm and productive home for fall through spring seasons. The sunroom will be inexpensively heated by sharing our main home's natural gas furnace heat, and we've noticed that even when the French doors are closed, morning sun warms the room quickly, already noticeable now on rainy and overcast days in late October. We look forward to enjoying morning coffee in this bright and cozy room during cool seasons. Both the interior and exterior finish trim are amazing with intricately precise cuts that enhance the appearance, earning plenty of compliments from family and friends. Mike's knowledge and flexibility helped tremendously in tailoring the end result's being even better than we anticipated, with several additional useful and space-saving enhancements that we would not have thought of on our own. We highly recommend A New View, and would hire them again in a heartbeat.
I've used Mike for many previous jobs - a new chimney surround with an added roof and quot;cricketand quot; (raised section) to eliminate leakage, replacing siding (vertical lap cedar - he caulked every seam to prevent water intrusion!), replacing a garage side door, and installing windows (replaced 5, re-installed 2 that someone else had done incorrectly, and installed 2 new ones) - he always does an excellent job and I highly recommend him!
I have more projects for him in the near future, as well.
My highest recommendation!
I worked with Mike Kuschel which is the owner of A New View Windows and Doors. He is very honest and a good guy to work with.
On installation day he brought along his two sons that work for him. They are also some of the kindest and most down to earth people! So polite and courteous. They worked h****** installing the windows. One of the sons saw we were having trouble with our sliding door. He offered to look at it and fixed it right up for us!
We were pleased with the whole process and would recommend them to anyone needing new doors and windows!
