Melody Electric

I had an appointment for 7/16 for cable installation in a second floor bedroom and can light installation in the basement gym. This was actually the 2nd appointment for the basement can lights as the electrician ran out of time during a prior appointment. The electrician called in sick the morning of the 16th, so an alternate electrician was rescheduled to arrive at 8am on 7/17, leaving enough of a window prior to when Comcast was supposed to arrive for the cable box install at 10:00 am. The electrician called at 8:47 am to let me know he was on his way and finally arrived at 9:15 am - over an hour late. So, of course he was not finished when the Comcast installer arrived. Snaking the coax cable from the basement up to the second floor bedroom took the electrician about 2 hours - he left my house before 11:30am. I was charged $679, which I feel is very high for 2 hours of electrical work. And the basement can lights were not done again, for the second time. When my husband called to discuss this with them, after they did not respond to an email from me on the topic, the owner was rude to him. Needless to say, we will not be using Melody Electric again.

Contacted Melody Electric and immediately talked to a pleasant office receptionist.  I explained my problem and we immediately set up an appointment at an agreed upon time.  Two gentlemen from Melody Electric showed up exactly at the appointed time.  They were extremely polite and professional.  They work from a set cost structure for services performed and tell you up front what they will charge you for each of the services you want them to do for you.  We agreed on the work and the price.  They did their work very efficiently and professionally.  They were done in almost exactly one hour.  For the scheduling of the work and getting it done efficiently and correctly, I would give Melody Electric an A+.  They were fantastic.  The reason they get an overall B is on price. For the $447 cost I was charged, I judge I could have purchased good grade parts (two switches, one outlet and a GFI circuit breaker) for no more than $90.  That means that I was essentially charged $360 for two people for one hour's elapsed time or $180/hour for two people each for labor. No doubt that covers the overhead of the office, etc. but it is not something that strikes me as cheap.  For that reason I gave Melody Electric a C on price and an overall rating of B.  Having said that, would I use them again?  The answer is, probably, yes.  It was easy to contact them and immediately set up an appointment.  They showed up on time and did efficient excellent work.  They were extremely courteous.  They told me up front what it would cost and I had the opportunity to show them the door if I didn't like it.  I compare this to another provider that is rated A in Angie's list with 33 ratings who did not return my phone call.  Compared to what a nightmare it can be to have someone come to do a small job and wonder what kind of work they will do when they get there, it was a very pleasant experience indeed to have Melody Electric come in a timely manner and do quality work.  I just feel I had to pay a premium price for this excellent service and this is reflected in my rating.

Perfect.  On time, courteous, professional, and reasonably priced plus I got a 10% discount because I'm a member of Angie's List.  All around excellent service.

I found them incredibly helpful, honest and I really liked their work. I liked the fact that they were honest about everything,and they could have told me anything and I would have believed them. My husband thought we needed much more work than we got done, and I just appreciated that they were honest, and they knew what they were doing. The work turned out perfect.

Work will be done on April 7, 2014, done well, and at reasonable charge. Company has a website which states 1-year warranty on work performed.

They also replaced a different light fixture.  It went smoothly, and the work was good.

Their method of using up front pricing is nice in that you know exactly what it will cost you but it also left me feeling like I may have paid too much. However, we felt that with the time the two electricians spend trouble shooting the hot tub issue and the installation of the light (parts and labor) was worth it.  They were very prompt. Returned our phone call the same day and came our to trouble shoot the hot tub on Christmas Eve. Since they were there we had them do the light installation then although it was not as urgent as the malfunctioning hot tub.

He was right on time, professional and job was done in less than an hour.

Just moved to the area and needed a pair of ceiling fans installed during the recent heat wave.  I called at least 8 outfits including Melody, and understandably, everyone was booked.  Melody however was not only one of the few that returned my call, but they responded to my plight by calling me back with a much sooner appointment when they had a cancellation.  The technician arrived on time, promptly installed the fans, and even looked into and provided a written estimate for another electrical issue we recently discovered.  I will definitely use Melody as my electrician going forward.

Quite nice man came on time and asked what needed doing then proceeded to all that was necessary properly and effecentaly then went out of his way to find the missing part to my fan. Installed and working well. Lee Laessle,
