The installation went well, overall. Spectrum's personnel were knowledgeable, courteous, honest and helpful. They assessed both of the two tanks I had originally asked to have replaced and let me know that only one actually needed to be replaced at the time. I appreciated their candor and the explanation and demonstration they gave me to support their estimate that the second apartment's tank would last at least another 5 - 10 years. They advised me in advance that they might need to temporarily remove the stair treads from the two bottom basement stairs in order to manipulate the tanks as they moved the new one in and the old one out. They explained multiple options for transferring fuel between the old and new tanks together with the attendant risks and costs / savings. We decided to schedule the installation once my tenants old tank was almost empty to speed and simplify the process. I was completely satisfied with how they cleaned the installation area and replaced the stair treads at the end of the project. Only one concern arose during the project when the installation had to be delayed for several days because a funeral and another unplanned event came up for one of Spectrum's principals. Except for this delay and the resulting concern about my tenants running out of fuel, the installation went very smoothly and I am quite pleased with the result.

The only problem was communicating with Spectrum, specifically Ben Hicks, the owner and service provider. His phone number and email address were incorrect as listed by Angies. Nevertheless, we managed a phone call and set a service date. I found him to be a completely thorough, thoughtful and technically proficient professional. He kept me informed as to his findings and remediation, all of which were logical. Finally, his charge was quite reasonable (for four hours work). I most certainly will call him next fall for an inspection. He's earned my trust and confidence. I will recommend him to my friends.

We enjoyed working with Ben for the most part. He is knowledgeable and caring. Sometimes, his communication wasn't as fast as we would like, but, on balance, he was an excellent choice for the work.

Our first encounter with Spectrum Energy was in March of this year. Ben serviced one of our two boilers, which we knew hadn't been done in several years. He replaced the oil filters on the tank and boiler and thoroughly cleaned the inside of the combustion chamber, which had been neglected by the previous owners/servicemen. He was kind enough to show me the before and after as I was curious about the condition of our boiler. What a difference!!! It was like night and day. He even took time to suggest different ways to improve efficiency on older boilers (e.g. heat manager, etc.). I am confident the service we received was far beyond what we could expect from the local oil company.

In August, we had Spectrum Energy come back to service our second boiler. Once again, our boiler was thoroughly cleaned! Also, the stove pipe leading from the boiler to the chimney had apparently rusted through and nobody had bothered to catch this in prior servicings. So, that was replaced. Also, since March, Ben purchased some high-end calibration equipment. In the end, he took our 78% efficient boiler up to 87%, which is great considering it's age. The efficiency sat in the 70's for quite a few years. I'm looking forward to seeing an improvement in our heating expenses this winter.

I had a great experience with them. Ben gave me suggestions of things I could test on my own. He discovered that there was a GFI outlet in another location in my kitchen that had tripped, and that was why the outlet by the refrigerator wasn't working. While he was there he flipped the "problem" outlet around so it was easier to reach (who ever originally installed it obviously had a perverse sense of humor).

I was really nervous about having anyone do this but these guys were great. My main contact was Don, he asked a lot of questions about my old furnace to find out if I really needed new or did it just need repair. As this is a mobile home its different then a house so he needed serial numbers and I offered to take measurements instead of him coming here just for that. They showed up when they said they would, it was nice that they seemed happy for me to get a new furnace, having me come out when it was unboxed to see it. They put old rugs over my floor to protect it. The Old furnace had backfired and was dented out, so they asked to remove the sheet rock( its like a door frame) I laughed and said of course but it might fall into pieces they assured me they would be careful and they were but my fix job looked great but wasn't sturdy. Any way the old went out and they had to do some rearranging of fuel line, the Floor opening was bigger then needed ,so that had to be redone, they just went along and did it never seemed impatient with each other or the job. The roof jack stove pipe thingy came out hard as I had replaced the roof 2 years ago and made sure it was sealed in(it was)!! They each had their own things to do and they just seemed to .. flow. By 330 it was getting too dark out to finish roof stuff so they got new furnace going, Don stayed a while to make sure it was running well and came the next morning to finish the caulking/sealing of the stove pipe. The old furnace was left in a neat pile for the metal collector and the cardboard was well held down. They cleaned up any mess (not much). Made sure I was happy and gave me the bill. Don has called to see how the furnace is running, I didnt expect that. Any type of remodeling is rough but the Spectrum guys didnt waste time, going in and out, taking breaks, talking on phones etc. They did the job well and they have a new customer.

I called Spectrum after reading about them on Angies List. Within a day or two they were at the house to see what I needed done. My generator had not yet arrived but they used the time to familiarize themselves with the model I bought and get the parts they would need for the installation. Communication was excellent both by email and telephone so I always knew what the schedule was and was always consulted on any decissions about the work. They provided me with a free estimate after their first visit. The generator was delivered on a Tuesday and Don and Ben were at the house on Wednesday morning. They worked quickly and were prepared for the job when they arrived. They checked with me if they had any questions or advice and explained what they had done and how to operate the generator system. The quality of their work was excellent and it was clear they took pride in their work. All of the work took about 5 hours and they took care to make sure that the work areas were cleaned and neat when they finished. This was my first experience hiring an electrician and I feel very lucky to have had Don and Ben do the work. I can't say enough about how well they communicate with the customer! I'm planning to have more work done next year and Spectrum will definitely get the job.

We chose Spectrum because their quote was competitive, and they seemed to take a real interest in the job. Another factor in our decision was that their price included patching the ceiling around the new ceiling light boxes. A few things I really liked about Spectrum Electric: * They laid carpets and tarps wherever they were working, and I heard their vacuum running frequently throughout the day. * They were always polite and courteous. * Good communication throughout the job. We made it clear at the outset that we were on a tight budget, and we were consistently kept abreast of anything that could potentially take us over the initial estimate. * wiring work was neat and organized. * Removing the old fixtures left some very large holes in the ceiling, and Don did a fantastic job patching them, and also giving me some free education about using joint compound. A few areas that could be improved: * The scheduling was somewhat erratic, with periods of time with only one member of the Spectrum team present. This wasn't a huge deal, but probably contributed to the job taking longer than originally estimated. * A piece of scrap wire and a screw ended up in our garbage disposal. We managed to fish them out with a pair of tongs - no harm done. When all was said and done, we did end up spending a few hundred dollars more than was quoted, though we didn't feel the increase was unfair. It was largely due to the discovery of an electrical panel hidden beneath the attic insulation, through which all the lighting circuits were routed. Tracing the wires to and from the panel, eliminating as many as possible, and finally constructing a cover for it out of a piece of scrap metal accounted for most of the extra time. On the whole, we were happy with the quality of the work done, and with the price we paid.

It went great! Ben and Don came down to look things over and give me a free price estimate within a few days of my initial call to them. They were friendly, helpful, and clearly competent--and the price was reasonable. Just two days later, Don did the work. The installation was perfect, including a very neat repair of the cutout at the edge of the ceiling that had to be made to get the wire in place. Don left everything neat and clean, too. I wasn't charged for travel time, even though I live an hour away from their business! I'll definitely use Spectrum for my future electrical work and also to service my heating system.

Ben called ahead and arrived early (which I preferred) and worked diligently on drilling, inserting screws, etc. for 1 1/2 hours. He was most personable, well-groomed and clever at finding proper fixtures for re-installing this oven-door.

Ben was nice enought to meet me on a Saturday morning and provide a free estimate of the work we wanted completed. We wanted outlets in the basement and the cable to be moved from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor. He returned on Monday with a worker and was very detailed in labeling all the extra cables, and installing the outlets. He was at our home for hours and didn't leave until he was finished. Although the cable didn't work when he left, I blame my husband for telling him it did (when he saw "searching for signal" he thought it was all set). We broke down and called the cable company and it was a simple fix that they didn't charge us for. Ben offered to pay (or subtract from our bill) anything the cable company charged. He was a sweetheart.
