I mentioned that the back door would not close well and was an energy problem. He said he could take of it. He came over and said he needed $3000 to start the project. He sub contracted the work out. I had to accept the delivery of the concrete blocks so I know how much they cost, they were $300. They put on a new door for about $900. They threw away our old door as well as our dog door so they charged us for a new dog door. $3000 was more than enough. Eight months later the work is still not done. He came by and said I owed me $1200 more. He refused to give me an itemized bill. I haven’t heard from him in 3 months. He told my son’s girlfriend when he stopped by that he would sue me if I didn’t give him the money. I would highly recommend people to avoid him. All I needed was back door replaced, concrete block put down, and an A frame built above the step and it's still not complete.
Description of Work: I went through Efficiency Vermont to find a contractor. I hired Bruce Merritt to replace a door, lay a concrete block outside the door, and build an A frame overhang to route the water away from the house and step.
