General Remodeling
Matt seemed very professional at first. He responded promptly and provided a detailed written estimate. The ob went very well at first, but after a couple of months he became harder and harder to reach. We were trying to get the work finished up by the 4th of July, which would have been about 4 months.  Matt would not return phone calls and in order to get the project done I had to finish up the painting myself. After that in order to get the final punch list completed we had to continue to pester him and get our condo manager to call him as well. The strange thing was that I had offered him some follow on projects since I was mostly happy with his work. We probably would have spent another $10K with him if he had just finished the job properly.
A year later we found out that some of the plumbing work had been improperly. The sink drain had been incorrectly connected to a roof drain line. There were heavy rains and the water from the roof was backing up through the sink. Matt did fix the work, but charged me $500 for it. He claimed that he had subcontracted the work and had no way of knowing it was connected improperly. My viewpoint was that it was his sub and it should have been his responsibility. I needed to get the work done or risk a flood, plus I am not local, so I ended up paying, but I will not use Matt again. He doesn't stand by his work.
