Black Ox does a superb, professional job. Tom and his crew have been responsive (coming out in terrible weather last winter), neat and explained clearly their plan of action.

The owner responds quickly to a request for an estimate. He visited the site on his own and provided an estimate quickly. The crew is professional, skilled, works well as a team and does excellent work.

Fantastic My wife and I were having a very difficult time finding a local outfit to replace our leaking roof before winter fully set in. The quotes we received for a spring job were very high. I called Tim at Black Ox thinking he would be too far away or also fully booked. I was surprised to hear back that he would be able to get it done before the winter and his quote was much more reasonable than the larger outfits. In short Tim got the job done when he said he would and at the price quoted. He saw that we would need some additional insulation and simply got that done as well. He and his crew were here and gone in a shockingly few number of days, even working in bitter cold. The roof is spectacular and the house so much warmer. It was almost as if they were never here and this perfect standing seam roof magically appeared almost over night. I assume he is able to do this because he does one type of roof only and because he spends all day at work in the field. Do not expect lengthy conversations with Tim. If he says he will get it done at a certain time at a certain price he will. Send in your deposit and be patient. Tim is a very busy man and actually up on roofs working rather than on the phone or computer chatting. It is refreshing to work with someone in such a straight forward manner, but you must trust him. In return you will have a beautiful new standing seam roof of the best materials, perfectly installed by a master of the craft, at an unbeatable price. We can recommend Black Ox without any hesitation and feel very lucky to have discovered this treasure.

The job was well organized, well done and completed in one day (amazing). Tom, the owner, is professional, skilled, responsive to questions and organized. In additional to being a skilled roofer and business owner, he has excellent computer skills that he uses effectively for communication and billing. Also, in addition, Tom's initial estimate of cost was completely accurate and well communicated. He has an excellent site online with pictures of many of the roofs they have installed. The Black Ox team did a beautiful job. The old asphalt roof on both house and garage was stripped, roof was re-prepped, and new double-lock standing seam roofing was installed. Dumpster was provided. Quality materials. We really admired their neatness and efficiency.

I'm an asphalt roof kinda guy. I have stripped roofs (sucks), nailed shingles (also sucks but not as much as carrying them in bundles up to roof) and have been ever so happy to turn it over to others for years now. Recently, we bought a vacation home in the Northeast Kingdom which needed a new roof. This time, we wanted to do something cool - a standing seam roof. Finding a contractor was at all not easy -- until I found Tom at Black Ox Roofing. Ever meet someone for the first time and think: "Wow, this person knows what they are talking about?" Well, that's Tom, and being new to this type of roof and a lifelong flat lander, I tested him over and over. He was always patient and professional - answering my questions promptly and in great detail. Okay, so if you are still reading, now you're thinking: "He might be good, but how did the job come out?" Beautifully - which is exactly what we wanted. We are on top of a hill and smile every time we come up the road lately - because our roof looks so cool! Finally, yes - I did have prices to compare and Tom's quote was very reasonable. If you can get him, and you are a nice person too, you'd be crazy not to hire Tom and his crew.

Black Ox Roofing was quick to respond and using email made it easy to send information and pictures so that a quote could be done. They did an excellent job and took before and after pictures for me to send to my insurance company. The insurance company found the bill to be reasonable. They also went over the entire roof looking for loose seams and secured them.

Initial discussions were conducted with Tom via e-mail and text. He was careful to answer all my questions fully and gave convincing explanations that were clearly based on significant experience. He was also thorough in describing potential sticking points ahead of time - e.g., they wouldn't reinstall the gutters and there was a potential for inadvertent scraping of the deck (didn't happen ultimately). The work was performed on the discussed schedule and to a high professional standard. Large and small details were performed exactly in line with the expectations we'd agreed on. Upon removing the old shingles, some damage was found in the underlying roof deck. Black Ox came up with a suitable remedy (neither a band-aid nor a "gold plated" solution). This additional work was performed for an extremely reasonable price and explained in detail. Overall I'm very happy with the new roof and have every reason to expect it to last a very long time. The Black Ox crew were courteous and professional, and I'd certainly recommend them.

Black Ox installed a new roof on our addition (the larger section, on right), joining it to the existing roof. They did an excellent job. Great communication, installation was done quickly and efficiently. Crew was friendly, professional and cleaned up after themselves. We had a special request for fasteners that did not show through the exposed overhangs - Tom knew what to use in this situation, and the roof looks great! Very happy.

Terrific job from beginning to end!! The crew members worked deligently and efficiently! There were a few tricky seams to deal with which look great. There were no idle moments! The cost was fair and very reasonable! Roof looks terrific!! Let it snow!!

It looks great. No issues 6 months out. Tom answered all the questions I had during the process via email or phone. We had a unique situation that he came up with a unique response to which I liked. He was thoughtful in his answers and did a good job explaining things to me (I am not very educated about roofs).

Job was done as scheduled, they showed up exactly when they said they would. It only took a couple of days, and the roof looks great. Crew cleaned up after themselves, were polite and professional.

Black Ox did an outstanding job in some very rough Vermont winter conditions. Tom is a quality contractor. He was always in communication and kept me updated with the progress. I live almost 200 miles away from where the work was being performed on our vacation home. I needed someone I could trust and Black Ox and Tom fit the bill nicely. Quality workmanship at a fair price. I would definitely hire Black Ox again!

The 52' x 18' roof was installed in 6 hours.  The 5 men that made up the team worked really well together.  One on the ground doing the cutting and bending of the pans, the next passing the pan up to the 3 on the roof.  The 3 on the roof then installed the pan.  It was impressive to see them work together and make it happen.  They worked around a chimney at the end of the house and 4 penetrations in the roof.  The roof looks great.  So far it seems to be performing well.

The experience could not have been better. Although I was paying a little more than I might have paid to a different contractor, I could see from the start that I had made the right decision choosing Black Ox. I had every confidence the roof would be what I expected and am.

The contractor and crew did everything they said they would do. They went about their work with remarkable exactness and efficiency and attention, throughout, to doing things right. They were also easy to have around and always respectful. And they were very, very tidy!

Started a couple of days late, but that is unavoidable in the roofing world.  I am very happy with the whole experience.  The bid for this job was much lower that their competitors, and the final price came in under the bid!  Nice people, considerate workmen, made an effort not to trample the gardens.  I have no complaints and I recommend them without reservation.

It went very well.  I watched the whole process as I like to see how things are done.  The team was fast and good at there jobs.  They left no mess behind and where pleasant to talk with while they worked.
