Fred Sommariva FS Carpentry

In 2012 my roof was leaking - first sign of trouble.  From 2010 to early 2013, Jorge Romo, of Marlboro, VT had been building additions to my home in West Halifax, VT.  The roof leaked, the walls were falling down . . . a disaster and I needed help.  Fred Sommariva was referred to me by two local people he'd worked for and they highly recommended him.  After several contractors viewed my damaged home, it became obvious that the previous builder - and i use that term loosely -  did not know what he was doing.  But i will address that builder in another review of him - Jorge Romo. 
Fred came in a timely manner, inspected the building thoroughly, presented his findings in writing, was available for discussion, offered to work with my lawyer as needed, referred me to Mel Baiser Management for her help in estimating the damage.  We have been working together on the legal case as well as on the present project to demolish and rebuild my home.  I have been able to interact with Fred in a very easy and respectful way.  Because of the nature of this project, I have had to change plans several time, put certain parts on hold as i scrambled for financing etc.  Fred has always been patient and willing to do whatever was needed to get this project on the way to completion. 
We are still in the middle of this project, which will continue through the summer of 2014 at least.  i can not recommend him highly enough - for reasonableness of cost, extremely high quality of his work, his ability to be flexible and see outside the box, compassion (and home construction can get very emotional), finish work, resources and so much more.  I will continue to update you on this project as it goes forth.
