GOLDEN LION CHIMNEY SVC

Description of Work: I had an appt. for the cleaning of my chimney liner and diagnostic for my pellet stove which was having issues with the upper auger: it was making a noise when it turned. Singh, the owner of the co. told me he could do the work and if I needed parts, I'd have to order them from the mfg. and he'd come back to install at a later date. He arrived on time and proceeded to pull the stove out of the fireplace and vacuum it out. He said it was dirty and should have been serviced prior to, that the sound being made by the upper auger was most likely due to the ash. I clean out the front of the stove 2xweekly, but it weighs 325lbs. and I can't pull it out for cleaning by myself, thus the call to Golden Lion. After vac-ing and brushing the cleaning part was done and it took about 45 minutes. He looked at the works in the back, but he couldn't figure out how to take the auger out. I had called the mfg. for help, but was left on hold for 20+ minutes, so Singh gave up trying to fix it, apologized and gave me a bill: $250.00! I balked at the price and he said that's what other service companies charged. We settled on $175.00, but i still think that the charge was excessive for vacuuming a stove and vent out.
