Burlington Muffler & Brake

I have going to them for the past 5 years and they've always been reasonable, they don't want to fix anything until its broken and they've always done a good job, I haven't had any problem with the works that they've done. They always inform me and show me the things they do on the car, even if I don't ask for it, very informative.

They are excellent.

They diagnosed my brake issue promptly and determined they could machine the rotors and still meet the specs, rather than replacing them, saving me some significant money. Unlike most auto service shops they are great at giving lower cost alternatives that do not sacrifice safety. I have had other work performed there in the past on this vehicle, as well as others, and have always felt that I have received the highest quality service at a very reasonable price. I highly value their honesty and integrity.

EXCELLENT REPAIR DONE PROMPTLY AND AT REASONABLE COST.

They're just very honest. They explain what's going on with your car. They don't try to over charge you for something, like brakes, before you need them. I felt they're very trustworthy.

Quoted repair from other service providers were over two hundred dollars greater than what Burlington Muffler charged for the repair. Quick, quality repair was performed - completely satisfied! Their specialization in exhaust work is what sets them apart from other repair centers in the greater Chittenden county area.

Everyone was pleasant and friendly. Technician explained everything to me and answered any concerns I had. Also did a trip inspection at no additional charge.

I have been using a local repair shop for about six years. They're pretty good, however they tend to be pretty pricey. My brakes were squealing recently, and they quoted me a price ranging from $350-425, depending on the quality of brake pads i chose. I asked if they could turn my rotors (resurface them) as opposed to installing new ones, thereby saving me some money. They advised that they never do this because the rotors are never salvageable. (I've always had rotors turned in the past, with no ill effects!) I then went online and learned about Burlington Muffler and Brake. The receptionist was very well informed, knew about turning rotors and said they would do that if there was enough and quot;meatand quot; left on them. I was relieved that the front line person was so well informed, and felt confident that the technicians would be equally capable. I made an appointment to have the vehicle inspected, and was told that should I approve, they would go ahead with the work the same day. Upon arriving, I was greeted in a spacious waiting area by the same woman with whom I had spoken earlier. She took my information and introduced me to Ken, the technician. He test drove my vehicle, and pulled into a service bay while I waited in the waiting room. After a short time, he emerged from the shop and asked me to describe the problem I was having with my brakes. I told him of the squealing noise and assumed it was sensors indicating a pad replacement was needed. He told me that after pulling all the wheels and checking pads and rotors, nothing appeared to be worn to the point of needing replacement. I asked if i could take a look myself, and without hesitation he took me back in the shop to his service bay where my vehicle was up on the lift. Having a bit of experience working on cars myself, I could see he was spot on with his observations. While the squealing remains (it's not much of an annoyance), I wasn't asked to pay for a brake job I did not need. He added that if I wanted to bring in the vehicle for an upgrade to ceramic pads, that could be done for about $130. Fair enough. He then moved back to the exhaust system, where he showed me a rusted, failing hanger and the resultant flange failure. He explained that this is usually the first place on this particular model which needs attention, and offered to install a flange eliminator kit, costing a total of $60 plus tax. I encouraged him to go ahead, and returned to the waiting area, where the receptionist told me of a nearby restaurant I could visit for lunch. After eating, I returned to find my vehicle finished, and was presented with a very reasonable invoice for $64.20. They reassured me that all work was guaranteed for one year. Duly impressed at that point, I asked about bringing my other car, a 1993 Toyota MR2, in for some front struts and tires. They were very receptive and joked that it had been some time since they'd seen one in the shop. I left with a very good feeling about the whole experience. I will definitely be returning when I need quality vehicle service priced fairly. Referring my friends to this business will be easy...they can't be beat, in my opinion!

The experience was great. They were very fast and it was easy to make an appointment.

Called on Tuesday and was able to get an appointment on Wednesday. They called after they looked at the vehicle and told us what it would cost and asked for our permission to do the work. The vehicle was worked on at 8 am and it was finished by 11 am. The people that work there are so friendly and professional. We had an oil change done also. We described a noise coming from another area of the truck and they found the problem and fixed that also. So very, very pleased with the business. Would recommend them to everyone. They can do all kinds of work on cars and trucks, all makes and years. Have used them many times and will continue to use them. They are honest and not pushy.

Called on Monday, got an appointment for Tuesday, brought turck in at 10:30, done by 11:30. Great service, good price, friendly staff. Would recommend this place.

Because of the age of the car, though its in great shape, they saw that there was a way to remedy the problem without replacing the system. There was a bracket that had not been put on correctly by the precious owners mechanic that was causing the metal shaking sound; a $3.00 fix. The section of mufler that needed to be replaced was taken out and as the rest of the system was great they just fixed the one part. I had been told my a different business that I would need the entire section of exhaust replaced at a cost of over $300. My vehicle was just inspected and passed with flying colors. I have been dealing with this company since 1995 and as I have always had older vehicles they have always identified just the part that needed replacing, not what they could have replaced and charged me for more than I needed. They are an outstanding company!!!! My children now go to them with great confidence that they are getting great service at a fair price! Thank you BMand B for years of great service!

Repair of front Y pipe, reused catalytic converter, replaced muffler, hangers, all other piping which is about 3/4 of the total. Car dropped off in AM and picked up 4 hours later as specified, written estimate was accurate. Quality of work looks and sounds very good. Only mild compaint is the cost of the muffler and 6 inch exhaust pipe, which seems a bit high at $180. I should have questioned this price from the estimate beforehand, so my fault, as the technician did make himself available to me for a couple of other questions beforehand. Professionalism was solid.

These guys are amazing. i have gone to them for many years, they never do work that is not needed. always are on time. if its an emergency- they always fit me in. I would never go anywhere else. they are the best

Steve and Sharon MacNair and their staff are honest, capable, and fair. I stumbled across them in need of a small exhaust patch and have been a loyal customer for the last 6 or 7 years. They always make room for their regular customers - even in busy days - and I've seen them go out of their way for first-time customers as well. I could rave and rave about how outstanding I think this place is - as an automotive numbskull, I rely on good honest people not to bleed me dry when it comes to my car. I always feel safe in their hands in that regard (and in regard to the quality of the service I receive.) Just a few examples of their approach: Whenever I bring my car by, I get a phone call shortly after that outlines the problem, provides me with options (usually 2 or 3), and usually some sound advice about what to do (which has NEVER been to take the most expensive route.) One day I happened to mention I was in the market for snow tires. A couple of weeks later, I got a phone call from them - they'd seen a set of 4 used high-end snows (1 season of wear) and picked them up in case I wanted them. They changed out my tires and sold me the new ones - labor included - for about $72! Finally, when I needed a new muffler, and the exhaust extension couldn't be hacked off and reattached, one of their guys offered me a reasonable match he happened to have kicking around (personally, not at the shop). He just gave it to me - no charge. They are top notch all around.

To give you and idea of their honesty, the first time I brought my car in for brake service, I asked them to take a look at the rear brakes because I thought they needed work. They told me they would need to be replaced before too long, but that I had at least a few months left on them. I have to believe many mechanics would have suggested I replace them. On another occasion, I asked them to change the oil in the rear differential of my truck because it was in the maintenance schedule. They checked the oil before performing the service and called to tell me it looked perfect and they thought changing it would be a waste of money. No charge.
