It was determined that our 5 year old dog has hip dysplasia. Our Vet gave us our choices for surgery. The cost of the surgeries was enormous, so we left without making a decision. The Veterinarian, Dr. Armstrong, and staff were all very nice and helpful.

The doctor is there for the animals. He is very friendly with my cat. He is very good with the animals. I can call them anytime and talk to any of the staff. They are always available and I don't have to leave messages. They are a little on the expensive side.

They're responsive, skilled, respectful, supportive, and they do it all with a sense of humor and genuine enjoyment of animals. They always follow up and check- in when an animal has been ill. They're a little expensive, but they've repeatedly given me discounts and a couple times gave me breaks on some of the costs since I was spending so much money to care for some animals with significant needs. Because I actually moved away from Hinesburg many years ago, I've twice tried other veterinarians, and both times I returned to the Hinesburg Animal Hospital (even though I have to drive 25 minutes for each visit). They are truly excellent and provide very high quality services -- I really can't say enough good things about them!

Dr. Armstrong was very thorough and relaxed handling my dog. My dog wouldn't let me look into her ears, but he did this with ease. He does a very good job of explaining dog health and treatments to the layman. I'll keep going back, but vet care has gotten expensive. I guess that it's just like human care where it's more expensive because they have so many more tools to monitor us.

The Animal Hospital of Hinesburg is terrific. All of the vets seem very competent, but Dr. Rich Armstrong and Dr. Marv Greenburg are superb. (Over the years, one or two of the others have perhaps been a little "distant.") Armstrong, in particular, goes the extra mile to research tricky issues and to get back to you. He isn't afraid to "think outside of the box." The follow-up is terrific, and Drs. Armstrong and Greenburg really strive to take the pet owners' feelings into consideration. There is one area, however, that could be improved. A couple of the people at the front desk kind of act like they are doing you a favor by speaking with you when you walk in. One woman is of the "May-we-help-you?" variety. Another doesn't like getting off her seat to walk over to the counter to take care of you. (I think that many people who walk into a vet with a sick pet have shot nerves but don't want to seem as if they do. This is where the T.L.C. comes in.) But it's also true that others at the front desk are great. For example, whenever one of the technicians happens to be at the front desk, s/he kicks in to see that one's needs are met. Overall, you and your pet are treated like a $1,000,000, and I couldn't imagine taking my business elsewhere.

Having dealt with plenty of veterinarians in the past, I can tell you that Dr. Rich Armstrong is fantastic. I would personally stay away from the other vets since they do not seem to have as good of "bedside manner." The treatment my dog received was excellent. My only complaint would be the front desk staff. They seem to be lacking polished professionals to work in the admin section. Another issue I had was with the follow-up calls that came in from "unknown caller." Since nobody wants to talk to a telemarketer, why doesn't the hospital allow their name to come up on caller ID?
