Replaced two porch roofs with metal roofs. Roofer removed siding and didn't return it. Said siding the house wasn't in the contract. (Sorta like Sears coming to your house and removing your door to get a fridge in and telling you putting the door back isn't in their contract.) Turnbaugh's new Metal slate roof valley had a gap at the end, which could cause leaking. Turnbaugh told me lots of metal roof valleys have gaps at the end and that it had to be that way because the roof was bowed. However, why did the prior valley not have a gap at the end and why did the valley that I replaced his (using yet another roofer) with not have a gap at the end? (I had to hire another roofer to remove his valley and replace it. The roofer also put in the second valley, which Turnbaugh had not done yet in December, even though I signed a contract in September.) I am in the process of tearing out all Turnbaugh roofing work and replacing it. Depressing that I have to pay twice to get the same job, but luckily, the new roofer is doing a professional and timely job, took him two days with a big crew to do what Turnbaugh hadn't finished in 4 months. The new roofer's valley and slate work looks wonderful. (K2 Roofing) The metal roof flashing is already an issue as it isn't flush with the house. The metal roofing material isn't sealed and will cause leaking per two roof inspectors In expectation of a reply from Turnbaugh Roofing: I took him to Turnbaugh Roofing to small claims Court and lost. I was told that the Court wouldn't look at my roof inspector's e-mail or the invoice from the other roofer as that was hearsay. The Court allowed my defendant hearsay that he was just about to complete the job the day I told him I wanted him off the job (even though he had no one on the job and it was the middle of December and too icey and cold to do the work, but that is another story) Lesson learned. Every get in this situation, my advice, get a lawyer and subpoena a roof inspector: 1) He did not tell the Court that he kept the materials I paid for and were not used by me. 2) He removed good slate from the roof edges, a significant amount of good slate to install metal edging and kept all of the slate and did not credit me for it 3) He removed vinyl siding to install the metal roofs and flashing and did not return the flashing. Told the Court putting the siding back on was not in the contract. 4) He installed roof valleys by tucking them in under slate rather than pulling the slate back and setting them back on the valley. He left about a 3 or 4 inch gap at the end of the valley. He told the judge that if I was unhappy with the gap, he could have put a metal patch there. He said he did it that way to save me money (His contract was a flat fee, not hourly, so the only person who saved money was him.) 5) I signed the contract with Turnbaugh Roofing in September and he still wasn't finished by December when I finally got another roofer to finish and to remove his defective work and to repair a sewer vent that he broke and was causing a leak. Turnbaugh Roofing told the Court that the reason it took him so long is that when I signed the contract it was the busy season and that he told me he would come on and off when he could. That conversation never happened and that stiipulation is not in the contract we signed. I have been reluctant to put up this review, because Angies List shares all contact information with the reviewed. I get this is for fairness, but makes it a little scarey. However, I think it important to protect people from what happened to me. My contract had called for 50% and 50% upon completion. After I had paid more than 50%, he kept calling me and saying he wouldn't continue unless I gave him more money. He came to my house for more money, saying he needed to buy materials, even though I had paid him $2000 for materials in September and another $600 two weeks later. The whole contract was for $4,560.00. Turnbaugh named some other jobs he has done in the area. I will add photos of those as soon as I locate those jobs.
Description of Work: Slate roof repair, flashing, snow shields, metal porch roofs, new metal roof valleys (well one valley, as after 4 months had only finished one)
