"The original price quoted was $4000 based on the information the homeowner sent us. Our start dates are never written in stone. They are pushed back due to weather, equipment breakdowns, and the availability of our employees/truck drivers. The steepness of the driveway was never communicated or shown in the pictures. The driveway is also short. Due to the steepness and shortness, our equipment could not be used effectively on the driveway so we had to do the driveway by hand. The $9000+ bill was not for just an extra day of labor, the breakdown of the final bill included the cost for excavation, gravel, and paving. We went back to complete the work when the homeowner requested and we missed a day due to a family emergency which we apologized for. We had a couple of wheelbarrows of leftover material which we thought would help stabilize the compost pile. This was located where we put some of the excavated driveway previously. We went back and removed the leftover material. We communicated consistently with the homeowner before and during the job and returned to do everything he asked."
"The owner was notified there was an extra layer of driveway that needed to be removed and she said she wanted to proceed with the job. Our foreman has several years of paving experience and we fully trust his supervision of the job and our employees. When we returned from out of town we visited the job site and found the job to be done correctly. We take care to post pictures of our jobs to not include any identifying characteristics that could cause harm to the homeowner. We leave advertising signs on our job sites unless the homeowner is present and asks us not to."
"The homeowner was reimbursed $3,375. Two layers of driveway was found upon initial excavation. This required more man power, more time, more wear/tear on our equipment and we incurred more cost to dispose of the old asphalt driveway to be recycled."
"We made an agreement with the homeowner to satisfy our commitment to finishing the work and adjusted our final invoice due to her."
"We have not received a request for an estimate from this person."
"When I discovered the concrete was 6-8 inches thick. I called the homeowner at work to ask if he still wanted me to do the driveway. He said yes. It is costly to haul the concrete away. I did the homeowner walkway for free. The homeowner never paid the total owed for the job."
