"Steppy and Terry are fantastic to work with! They are creative, thorough and dedicated. And, they bring enthusiasm to all aspects of the job and work collaboratively throughout. I was left in the lurch at the beginning of December by a prior contractor who bailed on my project due to "bad weather" (someone not from Vermont). I was left with a house open to the elements, only partially covered, and with water leaking in. And I was also left in a situation where there was no hope of continuing inside work during the winter as the inside building space was full of water from rain and snow melt. Steppy and Terry came onboard and immediately set to work prioritzing updates to seal in the building and insulate as quickly as possible. They put in place a fully dried-in roof for the winter, stabilized a loose front wall, and then set to work installing doors and polycarbonate windows in both front walls of my passive solar building (an Earthship). We're now at the point where we can choose next targets -- and we can successfully work through projects throughout the winter. I couldn't be happier -- and more relieved!! I highly recommend working with them for new projects, ongoing projects, as well as emergency fixes."

Pallet wood can withstand all kinds of outdoor weather conditions, which is part of why pallet fences are so appealing to DIY-ers. You can weatherproof the wood further before you paint or stain it, as well. Pallet fences are low-cost, easy to install, and can withstand sun and rain exposure without rotting.
Building a wooden carport costs between $3,000 and $12,000, depending on size, materials, and custom features.
There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.
Yes, many kinds of building permits exist for various projects in and outside your home. Each city sets the permit categories, but they typically cover new construction, alterations, and demolition. For example, you will need a different permit to finish a basement than you would tear down the patio.
Yes, home builders need to be licensed in every state and municipality in the country. The specific license required varies based on the location and the work, but most states require that the builder hold a general contractor’s license at minimum. Some states and cities also require that plumbing, electrical, roofing, and sewage system construction require individual licenses, in which case the builder may subcontract the work. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing tool to confirm that the builder you’re considering holds all the proper licenses.
