Price was fair. Except that vinyl siding on the exsisting house, in addition to the vinyl siding on the addition, was not included in the written estimate as I requested. Mr. Smith said it would take two weeks from start to finish for the enitre project. It took ten weeks. They never put in a full day, often didn't show up at all. Only returned my many calls once or twice, and left all their coffee cups, lunch bags and wrappers, soda cans, etc all over my yard every day they were their, which I cleaned up. After foundation was capped, and walls were framed, they cut into exsisting the roof to prepare for tying new roof with trusses, into the old roof. No precautions were taken to prevent rain from leaking into the exsisting house. It rained hard just as they were leaving and I had water running down my walls and windows and across the floor in the living room. This happened three separate times, even though I told him about it each time. When I tried to install the storm door, I found that the exterior door was not hung plumb and I had to remove it and re-install it before I could install the storm door. The eight foot picture window was not installed plumb either. I had Mr. Smith correct that. When I started hanging sheetrock, I imediately noticed that the framing was off in a few places. I had to plane and shim some areas before I could hang sheetrock.. The main carrying beam in the new addition met the exsisting house in a tee arrangement. This was not properly secured. I had to get a steel support bracket made and install it myself, per the building inspector. The entire house was roofed with steel. Where the old and new came together, I was to install a chimney. Mr. Smith left this section of the roof valley in a temporary arrangement, which caused water to run down the side of the house. He said he would return and finish it after the chimney was finished. He never came back. I called him over a dozen times, he returned my call once and said he was doing a roof just down the road that week, and would stop by and finish my roof. He never came, yet he continued to send me the final invoice. I finally had to hire another contractor to finish the roof and deduct what he charged me from the final invoice from Mr. Smith. Each time he handed me an invoice, I wrote him a check with in ten minutes, except one which I mailed the next day as I wasn't home when he left it, except for the last one, when he would not finish the roof. The outside finish work with the vinyl siding, sophets, etc is good.
