I can't remember all the details from last year's visit but Tom was late for the appointment and I remember thinking I wouldn't recommend this service or the package I purchased through Angie's list to anyone. I felt it wasn't worth the money.
After contacting them they were very responsive and did come out and correct the issues, however I would not use them again as the level of attention and quality of work was poor.
work, and painting of our dining room (14x14) and was provided an
estimate of about $1800 from a local painter. I saw Tom's Handyman
service here on angie's list and remembered Tom from a job he did for me
about 10 years ago. I was able to track him down and he came the next
day to give me an estimate...$650...I said when can you start :-)
Tom and his son came in and did the job in 2.5 days. They were punctual,
very careful with our furniture, and most important very clean and neat!
They did an outstanding job! Also, one of the most important things, I
know that I can leave them in my house unattended. To me that is very
important.
I definitely recommend them for anything!
Called and worked me in right away for initial paint job.
See above.
"I installed approx 13 curtain rods - not just one. The customer stated that "they" put up 1 curtain rod but I was the only worker there. I had to move the furniture to get to the windows. I supposed to work 2 hours with the coupon that she purchased.I was there approx 2 hours and 30 minutes. I explained to the customer how to put the rest of the curtain rods up and what she needed to do the job. She thanked me. I don't understand what took about a month for her to give a report that is not accurate. I gave her one of my cards, as I do with all my customers, with my phone number on it & told her to call me if there were any problems with the job. She did not call."
"This job was a 3 hour coupon for plastering. If one person was on the job then it would take 3 hours for the coupon. If 2 people are on the job it is 1 1/2 hours which is equivilant to 3 hours. This was explained to the customer on the phone before we went to the job. We did not set the price on the job - Angie's List did. We were there at the time we told her we would be, we called her after seeing this report & tried to see if we could resolve the problem. The customer told me I was being argumentative & started to raise her voice to me. I told her to have a nice day & I hung up the phone."
Scheduled for 8:30 am; Tom and his son showed up at 10:15 am; no call re: being late. Scheduling was not smooth. My calls requesting return calls (I had to leave voice mail) to schedule my service were ignored and not returned until I complained to Angie's list personnel.
To Tom Jr.'s credit, one door was done very well including moving the latch plate to accomodate the sealing material. Tom Jr. did Excellent work on that door. The home's main door, however was not excellent, but mediocre at best. One small (2 inch) section of the sealing area was left undone, and another was not properly attached and remains out of place.
"as far as arriving at 830 is not a fact.We always give some sort of window and do not control traffic. Not having an item needed is a possibilty, but what was the item?We keep a large supply of tools in our work truck. There are just to many types of tools to have every kind. The time frame from when work was performed until this post was made is over a month. Why not say something at the time?We shook hands after the job was inspected and approved. If not happy could have called, had our business card"
"The windows in the customer's home were new - therefore they were already sealed from installation. As far as the doors we did put weatherstripping on the doors. We showed her adult son what we did. Whether we were there 15 minutes or 2 hours does not matter as long as the work was performed and completed. The customer knew we were coming and should have made arrangements to be home if she had concerns. If there was an issue, I don't understand why the customer would wait 3 months to make a report & not call us with her questions regarding the job."
"I don't believe it shouldn't take 7 months to put in a response. The job was inspected everyday by the husband. The windows, ceilings, floors were to be cleaned by others. No dirt to be found while we were painting. Paint on ceiling fixtures is from years before. the first coat on cabinets was very rough - it was only the prime coat. Finshed coat was inspected and approved by the owner. Sorry you were not happy with the job. It is our goal to be sure the the customer is happy with the job before we leave it. Which we thought was so because the job was competed and accepted by the owner."
