Grass Roots of Virginia

Excellent. The first treatment was last fall, followed by aerating and seeding. I now have grass growing and its looking great. Their results far exceeded a previous company I used for an entire year. Very happy with the results so far and with my technician.

Grass Roots came and reseeded the entire lawn at no charge.

We have been using Grass Roots to manage our lawn for the past year. We are very satisfied with quality of the work being done by Kyle Washington, the technician who comes to our home. We have had Kyle from the beginning which gives me confidence that there is continuity in the care of our lawn. We are very pleased with Grass Roots prompt response when we call for additional services. The staff is very professional. They call to alert you when they are coming and check to see if that time works for you. We couldn’t be more pleased.

I have had Grass Roots literally decades(since early 90’s) and the techs are always professional and knowledgeable. As a customer I am always treated with respect. I will remain a customer of Grass Roots of Virginia and recommend their lawn services.

I have used their services for two years.  They have improved the appearance and health of both my lawn and shrubs.  They are extremely reliable.  I receive a phone call prior to each visit to my home.  Any concerns that I have had have received a timely response.  Their efforts have produced much better results that I was able to achieve.

It goes well every year! We have been clients of Grass Roots for over 10 years. Their
professionalism and timely care has been the reason we keep renewing our
contract. We get many services from them- Lawn Fertilization, Lime
Application, Weed Control, Disease Control, Insect Control, Core
Aeration and Fungus Control.

These guys are great. They know their stuff and use the information from the Virginia Tech Agricultural recommendations for this area to get it right. When they are working, you won't know they are there. That said, they always knock on the door to let you know they are going to do a treatment and to answer any questions you might have. If you aren't home they leave a note saying what they have done and any precautions they might have for the application. Simple.

The grass began to grow after seeding but kept getting worse. They must just throw the same thing on your yard that they do for everyone even if you need something different because I always had weeds and lots of brown, burned up looking grass. Ashley did respond in the beginning to my emails, but never remedied the issue, and then didn't answer my email. Instead, he sent my account to a collection agency. So, I spent about $400 for bad service and he is sending a collection for 2 services and wouldn't address my situation. I joined Angie's list after I hired him. I so wish I had joined first since I see now that they do not have a very good rating. I am someone who always pays my bills and a very reasonable person. I would not ever use their services again. Lesson learned, I guess.

It is a local company, and I like them a lot. They are prompt and treat me very well. They are pretty good and give me a lot of information and feedback. They used to do my seeding but they were high on seeding, so I have another company to do the lawn work. They come as many times a year as they say they are going to come. They don't give me prior notification but just show up, which is fine with me. They do come at appropriate times of the year and explain what they are fertilizing and why, which is nice; it is all on a little document they give me. I have a contract with them, and the price is a little lower compared to another provider. I pay them automatically. If I pay them annually, they will give me a bit of a price break too. I would rate them highly and would continue to use them in the future.

Bad

Used this company for over 2 years with no resulting benefit. Although it was a very hot summer, we have more weeds, bald spots, and bad growth areas than we had when we hired them. Only once did they provide some feedback concerning progress, but the results were not satisfactory. There was no apparent follow-up on the discussion. That is, no special or out-of-cycle treatments to solve the problems.

These people were real nice and they knew how to plant grass that grew and looked good. They were always willing to speak with me about what my yard needed and they were very knowledgeable and very capable. We have a yearly service agreement and I would recommend them.
