The project went well. Caleb was very professional and friendly. He explained each step of the process and was very careful with the sink and faucet. He checked for leaks and cleaned the worksite. This was our second project with Dave's Plumbing; they are highly recommended.

It was right around Christmas and the came out within like 2 hours. It was really prompt considering it was how close to Christmas it was. What had happened was out toilet had overflow and they had unclogged it but they didn’t get it all the way and so it over flowed again a few days later and they came back out again and unlogged it again and didn’t charge us.

They had to remove recent pvc type pipe and install a metal pipe that the faucet could screw into and stay flush against the wall.  The job was completed in a few hours and I am happy with the results.

The installation was accomplished very professionally.  Critical connections were closely tested, components which were heated were wrapped in protective coverings, etc.  All related documents were left in an envelope for my records.

Excellent response, professionally and courteously done. Decided to have both water lines moved to a better location and turned in better direction than originally plumbed. Work took three hours to cut out old plumbing and completely replace and re-route last 3 feet of original lines, and if you know plumbing, it was beautiful workmanship.

Caleb arrived and immediately got to work. He was very polite an courteous. He double checked his work as he progressed through the install, ensuring that there were no leaks and that everything was installed correctly. Will use there services again when the need for a plumber arises.

I just joined Angie's list yesterday. I did so for the purpose of finding a reputable plumber. I called just and quot;Aand quot; rated plumbers w/i a five mile radius because we were going on a trip w/I two days and needed someone to come out right away. Dave the owner came over the next day right on time. He has been in business for quite some time, was very personable, and very professional. He showed me what he said was an excellent kitchen faucet to replace my old one. The price including installation was $425.. I thought that was a little high for a faucet, but he got B ratings for price, so I didn't. question.
He is a very nice man who loves talking about the civil war. It took him about 2and 1/2 hrs to complete the work. One time I politely said this is all very interesting, but we need to get along with the work. I don't think he charged me for the whole time. I was a little embarrassed to tell him that about 1/2 hr of the 2and 1/2 hours was dedicated to the civil war. My point is, if I'm paying $90 an hour for labor, its OK to talk, but do so while you're working or after the job is done. I wish I had the nerve to tell him so, but he was so nice.
While he went back to his truck to finalize his bill, I asked for the model # and googled it. The highest price model was $185, the lowest $155. His price, excluding labor, is about 67% more than the highest price I could get it for on the internet. I figured I over paid by $150. He was very surprised when I showed him the printout, and told me he paid a much higher price through his resources. I told him he should seriously consider getting a new source for his supplies. No reduction in price was offered and I was too chicken to remind him how much of my time he wasted talking about his favorite pastime. The stories where great, but not worth $90 an hour.

Lesson learned here: check out the retail price for big ticket items and if a large difference in price, buy it yourself. When a service man comes into your home and you're being charged by the hour don't get engaged in small talk. You'll pay for it, even if you're on the listening end.

Response from Dave's Plumbing
"His point of view is taken, except the price quoted him was for a complete job, not by the hour. After 47 years of doing plumbing, I can basically look at a job & tell how long it should take to complete, so a job is figured on my experience. We base the installation of a faucet on 1 hours labor, whether it takes a 1/2 hour or 2 hours, he stills pays the same price, so he wasn't being charged for the time we were engaged in conversation. The other job that he asked me to do, which I quoted him before I started, I based on a 1/2 hour. Even though I ran into a problem and it probably me took closer to an hour to complete, I informed him that I still only charged him for the 1/2 hour. As for the price of the faucet, I have since found out that my supplier has been overcharging me, so he has agreed to lower his price, which means I can now lower my price to my customers. He commented that I did not lower my price to him when he found he could buy it cheaper, but if he had found it at a higher price, I sure he would not expect me to charge him higher for it. I did not lower my price, because the price I charged him was based on the price that I paid for the faucet. He seems to not understand, a complete price is a complete price, no matter how long the job takes to complete. He also seems to forget that he was not being charged for the extra time he spent talking to me about his other plumbing problems with his toilet & lavatory stopper drain"

The pipe to be snaked was over 100 ft long, so, to do the job correctly an additional clean out would need to be put in half way to the street. There was not enough daylight left, so the plan was to just put a hole in the pipe for the snake and for Dave’s office to call the next day to schedule a time to finish the job. Well, the call never came. We called and tried to get on the schedule, but, Dave’s wouldn’t commit to a specific day. I’ve had work done from time to time over the past 5 years and this is typical of how Dave’s Plumbing works. We’ve called several times, but there’s always been more important jobs or the weather’s been bad. One Monday they committed to getting it done on Thursday or Friday of that week. The weather was great all week. Then it rained on Friday so the job didn’t get done. So, good luck in getting your job scheduled by Dave’s Plumbing.
As a footnote, on Feb 5, 2013, almost 3 months after Dave’s Plumbing did the initial work, we called a larger company. They sent an estimator the next day, immediately gave us a fixed price estimate that was significantly lower than Dave’s and were able to schedule the job for the following day, Feb 6, 2013. Needless to say, I’ll be using the other company for future plumbing requirements.

Troubleshooting by Dave indicated the inner workings of the temperature control valve needed replacing. He was pretty sure the product was too old (20+ years) to find a replacement, and initially quoted $1200 to open the wall and remove and replace the entire two-control setup with a single handle; this quote did not include the cost of hiring another tradesman to re-tile.
After some prodding, he agreed to look for a replacement part, which he was able to locate and install (and quot;the only one in the warehouseand quot;) a couple days later.
I had to call him back within a few minutes to repair a leak I detected from a dripping sound in the wall, but he was back very quickly and managed to stop the leak (after disassembling the valve a third time). No cost for follow-up to fix the leak.

The work itself was very good. However, they do not how up when they say and cancel. It took 4 appointments, 1 cancelled and 3 they showed up to do the job that sould have taken one. If you have patience and time, then their work is good. If not, look elsewhere.
Response from Dave's Plumbing
"This was not entirely our fault. The customer schedule their job to be done on a Friday, which is a busy day for us to be doing a job like that, but since we had a hard time getting his and our schedules to meet, we went on and set it up. Because of a busy work day, we showed up to do his job after 5 o'clock, ran the drain line, which took longer than expected, and since it was late and we were going to have to drain his house down, I recommended that we come back another day. As the homeowner could not be home till after 4:30 in the evenings, it made it quite difficult to schedule their job to be done Granted, one visit I had to pull off the job because of of an emergency on another job, for which I apologized to the customer for and explained my situtation. I felt bad for the homeowner for leaving that visit, because I know she wanted her sink installed, and I wanted to finish her job, once and her all, but it was beyond my control."

They did a great job. In fact, we decided to have them go ahead and replace multiple faucets. Also, they were very courteous and professional.

He was quite good. I thought it was a little high for what he did but I needed to get it done and he did it. He was fine but I thought he charged a little bit more for the work than it was worth. I would probably search around in the future for a better price.

The appointment was flexible. He was here by around 10.30 and left close to 3. He did several things. I had bought a dishwasher and I had some plumbing issues. He had to remove and haul away the old dishwasher and install a new one. I also had a leak under a sink and he had to replace some portions of it. Dave's Plumbing had replaced a hot water heater several years ago. Their service was good, but the price was a little high even though I had nothing to compare it to.

I called Dave's Plumbing and they gave me a time window, and stuck with it. The call went very smoothly and I found the service to be prompt, efficient and personable. I would not hesitate to call them again. Highly recommended.

Great service! Company called one hour before arriving, as requested; showed up 50 minutes later. In and out in 30 minutes. Fixed one problem in less than 2 minutes (solution was not obvious to me, until he tightened some hidden mounting screws) and had the parts in the truck to fix the other problem. Left no mess, professional behavior, nice man. Price in line with expected cost.

My water heater had stopped working and after numerous attempts to get it working again, my husband and I decided it was time for a new one as it was over 12 years old. When I called Dave's Plumbing, I was told they would have someone call me as soon as possible to arrange a visit. Within the hour, I received that call and 3 hours later Chris (I think that's his name) turned up. He gave me his pricing for replacing the water heater. I had wanted to upgrade to something more efficient, but after some investigation we realized it wasn't cost effective. We asked him when he would be able to replace the heater and when he told us he could get one there today I was thrilled! Within 30 minutes Dave had turned up with the heater and 6 hours after the initial call I had hot water again. Dave and C (wish I could remember his name) are a great team. They are efficient, cleared up, and were willing to answer my questions on other plumbing issues. I would recommend them.
