We recently worked with Brian from Colonial Kitchens Custom Cabinets for our kitchen renovation, and we couldn’t be happier with the results! Brian was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable throughout the entire process. He listened to our ideas and turned them into reality, drawing up, building, and installing exactly what we envisioned. Our project included a fridge box cabinet with side cabinets around our refrigerator, bottom cabinets in a kitchen nook, and an additional upper cabinet to match our existing cabinetry. Everything fit perfectly into our kitchen, and the new cabinets blend seamlessly with the original ones. The soft-close hinges he installed were a great touch, adding both functionality and style. Since we planned to do the painting ourselves, Brian primed the new cabinets so they were ready for us to paint, which was a huge help and saved us a lot of time. The craftsmanship and attention to detail were wonderful, and Brian made the whole process smooth and stress-free. The pricing was fair, and his professionalism and expertise made working with him a pleasure. We’re very happy with the final outcome and will absolutely recommend Colonial Kitchens Custom Cabinets to anyone looking for high-quality custom cabinetry. We’ll also be using them again for future home projects!

Their work was right on time, and beautifully done. I had some minor changes to the plan they drew up, and they were extremely accommodating. The cabinets and the granite counters look amazing.

Outstanding work.  They saved me a bundle by using leftover Formica top in a stone-like pattern as I had requested, and the finished product looks like it was designed that way, even though the cabinet is a 40 year-old Sears sewing machine cabinet!  I downgraded punctuality slightly, only because it took about a month, but it was understood from the start that the work would have to be sandwiched in between existing jobs and was dependent on availability of suitable scrap Formica for this small of a job.  I'm not complaining; it was worth the wait in order to have a quality job done at a very reasonable price.

They worked with me on the design, accommodated my design needs and did a super job of construction.

It went well. They were very quick and professional. They cleaned up after themselves, however I did have to dust the cabinets when they were finished.

I found out about Colonial Kitchens as a drive by customer. The gentleman I spoke to was fabulous. So, when we were ready to remodel our kitchen, they were my first phone call. Another gentleman was to call me back to schedule an appointment, but never did. As stated above, I contacted them three different times and no one over returned my call. Disappointing!!

Cabinets themselves look great, but weren't built as expected. Colonial was hired to replace existing cabinets which met door trim.  Colonial's cabinets were well short of the trim--to cover this they fabricated 2 3/4" door trim by glueing 1/2" piece of wood to 2 1/2" door trim.  This fabricated door trim repeatedly split at the glue-up and no where can you buy 2 3/4" replacement trim.
Additionally they varied the granite counter overhang anywhere from 3/4" to 1/1/4".  Customers do receive a copy of cabinet measurements.  These were poorly run-off copies with upper cabinets numbers superimposed on lower cabinet numbers further superimposed on overall kitchen dimensions--all in the designer's scrawl.  We incorrectly trusted Colonial to be the experts.  If you hire them go through their measurements with a fine-toothed comb!

Cabinets were not sufficiently leveled at the floor before counters were added causing unsightly shims directly beneath the counter tops.  When we mentioned this, as well as other issues, they turned cold and ugly. We were accused of trying to get money out of them - even though we had made no requests, other than asking about mistakes.

THEN the granite came...the granite was cut from CAD drawings and not actual cabinet in-place measurements--this caused gaps 3/8" between adjacent walls and countertops which they initially tried to fill with unattractive caulk.

We paid $5000 for granite through Colonial Kitchens - cut incorrectly and then stained with green bloom caused by epoxy residue on installers hands.  After MULTIPLE attempts to coax Colonial to fix the problem, we had to take it into our own hands.  We contacted the granite company and spoke with the owner - all of which Colonial should have done.  After speaking with the granite company owner, the counters were fully fixed within a couple weeks.

The bottom line is - the cabinets look great, but the design and installation is shoddy.  Customer service is worse.  They are very friendly up front (of course), but as soon as you have a problem, they become scarce and rude.

We WOULD NEVER work with them again. Get EVERYTHING in writing - including a detailed warranty.

Response from

"In August of 2013, Colonial Kitchens installed kitchen cabinets and counter tops at the claimants home. After the granite counter top was installed, the homeowner called our company with a concern about a gap at the wall where the granite stopped. I explained to him at the time that this was nothing unusual. Walls aren't in general perfectly straight and granite cannot be scribed to the wall. He insisted that something be done, so in an effort from our granite fabricator to resolve the issue, another problem occurred. The material that is used to fix the gap got on the granite and stained the top. Brazilian Best Granite who is our granite fabricator, hired a granite specialist that removes stains. After Brian the specialist removed the stains that were shown to him, he indicated that the homeowner's wife seemed very pleased with the repairs and didn't show any dissatisfaction. The next day, a representative from Colonial Kitchens accompanied by an employee were at the homeowner's residence and both indicated that the granite looked fine and the homeowner's wife seemed pleased with the results. She never indicated to them that she was not satisfied. Sincerely, Brian K. Bailey, V.P./Colonial Kitchens Vann Walters, General Manager/Sales"

We wanted to make our existing kitchen cabinets more user-friendly. The cabinets were built to our specifications 18 years ago by Colonial Kitchens. We asked Van to help with the design and provide an estimate. He was very helpful and worked hard to put our ideas into a practical design. He understood our needs and translated them into drawings for Brian. Then Brian came out to the house, gave us some new ideas, and explained our options. We are delighted with the outcome. The usable space in our kitchen cabinets has expanded greatly simply by modifying the interior space to be more efficient.
We are very appreciative of the time spent exploring options and checking possible outcomes before the first tool was used. The excellent planning and careful installation made this job pleasant and highly satisfactory.

DId not measure backsplash correctly - too short. After phoning them, I was asked if I could fix the seam left by the old countertop by painting or caulking. A representative came to the house and said it could be fixed by a caulk line. I wanted a new backsplash that met the terms of the contract (1/4 inch higher than the old backsplash). After some discussion,I told them I would see how the caulk worked. After several calls on getting somebody out to caulk, I gave up and ran a caulk line myself. I also wanted a plumber out before installation to make sure the sink I selected would fit (was worried about the garbage disposal with the extra depth of the new sink). Nobody ever came. I'm happy with my new countertops and sink. The plumber they sent out (Martin Hogg) trimmed a pipe off my garbage disposal so it would fit - he was excellent. But , in general, the company was not very responsive to my concerns.

After a few wrinkles that needed to be worked out the installation went very well. The piece is of extremely high quality in material and workmanship and covers an entire wall. Lots of needed storage space and places for five components as well as a large flat screen HDTV. A little pricey but that is to be expected for a custom piece such as this. I would use them again in a heartbeat!!

They admit they made a mistake (it is in their file) but through all the discussions there was no mentioning of an adjustment or redoing the counter top, plus they are claiming that they are going to take us to court. We do plan to pay them but if we had done so already they would not be very helpful is getting a resolution. One of the complaints I have is that the sink was a four hole, which we need only two (faucet and air gap for dishwasher). If the countertop was over the sink, we would have stone over the two unneeded holes. They are now sending us photos of a replace over mount sink that has two holes. The cabinents are beautiful but there was way too much changing of things as the process went along. As example, they switch the countertop material that we picked. I think it was substituted for a stone (which we picked from some samples they sent) that was actually cheaper than what we paid for but I cannot prove that - they were not explicit in that interaction. I would give them an and quot;Fand quot; score but think this may be an isolated case and they just showed poor judgement in the execution of the project. Trust is an commodity that cannot be replaced.

Unbelievably easy to work with! We originally obtained estimates for cabinet re-facing. My wife’s friend recommended Colonial and said she thought we would be surprised that we could get custom cabinets made for less than re-facing. I was certainly skeptical but she was absolutely right. We obtained estimates from several local cabinet makers but decided to go with Colonial not only for price and workmanship but that “feel” you get from a business. From our initial contact with Colonial to installation, everything went off absolutely perfectly. We used their recommended subs for plumbing, electrical, tile and granite and they also were great to work with. We obtained a quality product at a great price and we highly recommend Colonial.

First I came upon this company by mistake. I had set up several contractors to come by and give quotes. One of the contractors asked me had I been out cabinet shopping and of course I told them I had been to Lowes and Home Depot but didn't see anything I wanted. I really didn't want any of those types of cabinets. I wanted someone to build my cabinets. He told me about Colonial Kitchens. He said they are not far from you and they have very nice displays there. Go there and take a look.. Well I do exactly that as soon as he left, didn't know if they where open on a Saturday or not. I find the place and low and behold they where open. So I walk in and this very friendly guy greets me , may I help you. I tell him I'm looking to have my kitchen redone and how I stumbled upon them. He asked who was smart enough to tell you this. Of course I wouldn't disclose that. I was looking around and saying to myself this is the type of cabinets I want. They have a very nice showroom. I saying to myself, can't afford this, they are going to be way higher than those guys that came by who have pre-made cabinets.

So Mike at Colonial Kitchens starts talking to me asking what I wanted and I told him something like one of the displays they had. I say to him this kitchen display is about the size of my kitchen can you tell me about how much this would cost me. I knew he couldn't tell me an exact price but wanted to know if I could possibly even afford them. So Mike smiled and gave me a quote and he says you know this is just an estimate I would need to get true measurements. He said they would be glad to come out and get measurements. He says you need to talk to Brain and here he come now. He introduced me and told him why I was there they laughed, because another contractor told me about them. Well Brian gives me a full tour of the place where the actually build the cabinets. Wow! I was amazed, I said I'm hiring these guys if they come in my price range. We set up the appointment , they came out and gave me a quote and it was well within my budget and was close to some of those contractors that had the pre- made cabinets.

They got the job! They gave me a start date and stuck true to it. They where in here on Monday ,11/28 and out by Friday 12/02, a week. These guys had every aspect of the job lined up and was on time. They never took lunch breaks, hard working guys. I have a beautiful new kitchen for the holidays. I never met such a nicer group of guys to work with. I have already recommended them to my boss, he's looking to have some bathroom cabinets done. They come highly recommended by me.
