Trimmed large maple that needed it badly. Storms interfed with scheduling (lots of downed trees and mine wasn't an emergency) but it got done. Extremely pleasant to work with.

They responded after several calls. Finally someone opted to come over although they said they do not do come to assess the job. Two people showed up, each with a different idea on how to do the landscaping i needed. They were looking for business beyond the coupon. i am confident that i will not be happy with their service. Fairly amateur conversations.

I contacted the provider and told them what I wanted done. They said then would send someone out to look and the job and call me back. They never contacted me.

The only way to get this through to you is to check confirm on botom because your form will not allow the truth about no work date ever being used since no work was ever performed. I have called, emailed and attempted not to renew my membership because over the pas
t year all Angie's List has done for me is take my money and provide no creitable servce.
I entered 9/9/2013 as a date just to get this through with a cost of $1 to maybe entice someone to actually become concerned.

Three calls were made prior to getting an appointment. Because they offered and quot;landscapingand quot; for $199, I had asked for basic lawn clean-up when I first called in March of 2013. At first I could get no one to answer, despite leaving a message. When I did contact the business, I was told that they were quite busy, but the deal was good until September. I really didn't pay $199 to wait until September to have my lawn cleaned; I wanted to have it done prior to seeding, etc. At any rate, I finally called in May, after several more tries, and explained that I didn't have $199 to pay out and receive nothing. They showed up within 48 hours, and I should have known what was going on when I saw the wood chipper . . .
The priority of the team, despite their great personalities, was tree work. Billy immediately went to work trimming branches. Because I do have many large oaks around my home, I figured this would be OK as it did need to be done; it just wasn't what I expected or really wanted. They explained that I would have three men working for two hours, which was quite acceptable, then $225/hr after that to top the trees. OK. I was going to go another hour and a half, thinking that would do it.
Time continued to tick away, and I finally had to go outside to tell them to stop - at which point they couldn't. I was later presented with a bill for $900, in addition to the $199 I had already paid. MOST of the branches needing attention had been dealt with, but not all. They also cut back a fir at the corner of the house, and pulled up some seedling oaks - which are everywhere from the fall acorn drop.
While all of the guys were very nice, and they largely cleaned up (with the exception of some paper cups lying around) , I have had a problem trying to write this review. Billy filled his pickup with the wood he took from topping the trees, and then parked the pickup on the other side of the street, about four houses up. I wondered why he did this, and wondered more why he didn't ask if I wanted to keep the wood. I guess that's moot, since I didn't, but it still struck me as, well, sly. In all, Affordable Tree and Lawn Service didn't turn out to be what I was expecting and what was implied by the advertisement, i.e., landscapers. I guess tree work is technically and quot;landscaping,and quot; but I had another expectation, and had made another request. As above, the trees did need topping; they did a good job; they were certainly nice enough. On the other hand, it was difficult to make an appointment for the work that had been prepaid, and I wasn't really expecting the trees to be tended to - rather, I was expecting yard cleanup, which I had told them on the phone. And, most of all, it was way more expensive than I had planned.

Went great! Showed up on time. Friendly and professional; showed attention to detail. Mulch looks great!

1. Got the deal that was advertised through Angie's list $400.00 dollars worth of work for $199.99 for 6hrs landscaping service . Called them and was not sure what I wanted them to do because I needed a lot done. I had to go out of town and set up a time when I came back for them to come and do the work. Which they where fine with and I appreciated that and also their patients with me because was not sure where I wanted them to

start or what I wanted them to do. They came ready to do anything. We looked at the back yard and all came up with a plan of things that where more urgent then others. My husband and the guys discussed taking down trees that could cause damage to our home or the home of others if a bad storm would come. They quoted us a price of $ 500 on top of the $ 199.99 for 6hrs landscaping service which considering we have had trees taken down in the passed this was an awesome deal. They went right to work removing briers, lots of debrie of fallen branches, removal 2- 5ft tall cedar bushes and removal 3 trees. The one large tree they removed was at a side ways angle they where very safety concise and really knew what they where doing which put both my husband and I at ease. They had started the job at 11 am and where finished 5:30 pm. Very pleased with the job, their kindness, over all safety and hard work in everything they did. They went above and beyond.

Excellent experience from start to finish with this true family owned company--Billy Sr. and his wife, his sons Billy Jr. and Brian, and the unforgetable (in a good way) John:-) Mrs. Stump had Billy Jr. and Brian out to do an estimate expeditiously. Work was scheduled for two weeks later and completed well within time. The four man crew (Billy Sr., et al) arrived on time on the decided day and worked for six hours. Great care was paid to preparing the area under the tree (moved numerous potted plants, and generally minimised damage to shrubs, plants and sprinkler heads). Additional tree limbs were removed in consultation with me, the home owner. Clean up was thorough. They even removed two huge dead shrubs in the front of the house. Additionally, Billy Sr. punned another 25 foot tree that was in need of work also.
If gardening is a serious hobby, be sure to engage Billy Sr. in detailed and meaningful discussion in the science of tree/shrub prunning and anything relative to horticulture and curb appeal to include care of tools. He knows it all and is eager to teach with hands on examples.
Also, enjoy the antics of John...what a character! :-)

Bad to worse!

All went very well from getting the estimate to doing all the work.

I called this company on Aug 15, and the owner came by to give me an estimate that same day. We agreed on the price, and set the Aug 17 date for service. The owner and his two helpers arrived on Aug 17 at the agreed upon time. They prepped the area under the tree to be removed--moved things out of the way that could have been damaged, and erected a rope "web" to protect shrubs under the tree from falling branches. One person climbed the tree, methodically cutting the lower branches as he went up; the others hauled away branches as they fell. Towards the top of the tree, the climber attached a rope to large sections and lowered them as he cut them. Once most of the top of the tree was removed, the climber cut smaller trunk sections which he then pushed over onto the ground. Because of the rope "web", there was no damage to the shrubs under the tree. They left the stump, per my request, at the height I wanted. Another helper joined the crew, and they hauled the branches to a chipper. The logs were sawed into manageable chunks (they spread a tarp under the logs to catch sawdust), and loaded onto a pickup truck to be hauled away. They raked and removed the small twigs and debris, and moved items back into place as requested. In addition to the work requested, they volunteered to remove a couple of dead limbs from other trees in my yard and a neighbor's yard. And, they voluntarily removed some large roots (from another tree) that had grown above ground. They completed all of this work in just under three hours. The owner and his three helpers were professional, courteous, and pleasant. (I gave them a tip in appreciation of the good work done on removing the tree and for the additional work they performed.)

They were able to take down my tree with no mishaps at all. They hauled away my tree for me, so I didn't have to worry about that. They were very careful not to damage anything. They did an excellent job of cleaning up the mess when they were done. They were able to get everything done in one day.
