Whiteside Contracting

Whiteside Contracting came to work on my home on a Thursday, but the work was not completed that day. We scheduled the painting and finish work to be performed the following Monday, but the contractor failed to arrive at my residence and twice refused in writing to complete the work. The contractor quit the job and then ignored my communications leaving me to write business letters via certified mail. The contracting business was compensated for services rendered only, but the attitude of the contractor became increasingly unprofessional and aggressive throughout the unfortunately long resolution process. Overall, the contractor produced an incomplete, unsatisfactory product.

I was left with unfinished work that had been paid for in advance 950.00and no response to my many calls.

I judged the quality of work not satisfactory and regret hiring this contractor. I'm leaving out the details but here is a summary:: Woodworking disappointing. Painting poor and incomplete. Drywall poor. Tiling poor. Excuses plentiful. I've attached several pictures as examples. Estimated cost is labor only as I supplied all materials.

They are very good, they clean everything up and make sure they cover everything up. I have a black wrought iron stairway and they covered it up and they are really great. One of the things that stands out is what it looks like after the fact. I have had other people come in and they put those booties on and then they go up and don't clean up after themselves. I had one guy come in and he got all the stuff from the ceiling and they didn't clean it up. I have had them do lots of stuff around here. My living room is colonial blue, and I have white molding on it, and they do such a great job. I think they are very reasonably priced. They do bathrooms in a reasonable price. They are a nice smaller company. I have had other prices and they go $1000 and that is very high. I buy the paint so it helps keep the cost down. I really like them. I call them direct and they don't have a secretary that I have to go through.

John and his team gave a reasonable estimate and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand.  He was accommodating with our requested start date.  When there was a plumbing complication that arose when the work started (not his fault, an issue hidden behind that walls) he immediately addressed the issue and called in a plumber he partners with.  There was a day or two where we thought he was coming to work but didn't.  Not a big deal but I would suggest confirming in advance exactly days work would be happening so there no issues or delays.  

Overall we are happy with the work John did.

It was excellent. From the first contact with this contractor he was professional and attentive, he worked around my schedule and showed up everyday on time. Painting was meticulous and he paid attention to detail, which included excellent work of the trim, and the ceiling, and I would definitely recommend him.

John Whiteside and his team did a very good job remodeling our bathroom. They were very clean, ensuring that any mess that was created was cleaned up by the end of the day. The bathroom looks beautiful and the price was reasonable (2/4/15).

Update about 6 months later (8/8/15):

My ratings have been updated to reflect how things have changed. Several things in the bathroom have begun to deteriorate. The grout has started to come out in several areas, the toilet does not stay in place, and there are some minor plumbing issues. When I tried to contact Mr. Whiteside regarding these changes, he did not respond back to me. Finally, my husband contacted him (using a number that Mr. Whiteside did not recognize) and he picked up right away. Although the contract we signed with him clearly states that his work is guaranteed for a year, Mr. Whiteside said he would not come and fix the problems in the bathroom. He was incredibly rude and unprofessional and seemed to be upset that we had not provided him with more work. I'm glad we did not use him for anything else because he wasn't willing to fix the problems that have occurred. Now, we will have to pay someone else to have it fixed. He violated his contract and we will not be using him again.

As you can see, I have used this company for many jobs. They always work hard and always leave everything clean and back to normal before they leave.
