In the coupon it makes an obvious point about the van having 12 filter bags on top. I never saw anything but a regular van. The remove the return vents, but not the registers. The "honest price guarantee" includes "FREE 2 bathroom exhaust fans cleaned". We have one, and they didn't clean it. I seriously just went an looked as I was reviewing the val-pack insert, and the bathroom exhaust vent had lint/dust all over it.
Other than shooting compressed air in the duct work and connecting a huge vacuum to the furnace, I don't know exactly what I paid for. The guy walked around with a little canister vac and sucked up dust while he shoot air on the vents. I could have done that.
After that, I decided to decline the dryer vent cleaning.
Decided to purchase an Airduct cleaning since we have a kid on the way
and I figured I would make sure everything vent wise was clean. I saw
the coupon in the mail valu-pack which seemed like a good deal. It
turns out that is their normal price (according to their website) so it
wasn't even really a coupon but more of an advertisement.
Scheduling the appointment was easy and they were able to fit me in very quickly.
They arrived during the expected time and the employee doing the work
(Nick) was very nice and friendly. He was at my TH for about 1 1/2 hrs.
Now maybe I was expecting something different but there was a few issues that stood out to me:
They state their truck has 12 filter bags on top, yet the truck that was
parked outside my TH was just a standard van. (Their own website
states) and quot;We not use carpet cleaning equipment to clean airducts. If
their equipment does not have 12 filter bags on the top of the truck is
is not an airduct truckand quot; Ok so did they bring the wrong truck?
The next thing I noticed is they didn't actually clean inside the vents, it
looks like they were just spraying air into them and having their gas
powered vacuum suck up the debris (down near the furnace) Also Nick was
walking around with a tiny portable wet/dry vac, I don't know what the
point of that was, maybe to catch extra debris but seemed a bit odd and
didn't look like it would have much power to do anything.
Also their website says We accept cash, check, Visa and Mastercard. Yet
they don't mention if you pay with a credit card there is an additional
fee. Also they ask you make the check out to the owner which seems a
bit shady.
Lastly after checking the inside of one of the bathroom ducts, it was still caked in dust.
Honestly I didn't see much difference between this duct cleaning job and when I bought one of those $40 specials (2 years ago).

I called Virginia-Z-Finest and scheduled an appointment to clean the Air duct.
they showed up on time, the gentlemen was very professional and knew exactly
what needs to be done. After he finished, he recommended a certain type of air
filters for allergies. My daughter health has improved significantly ever
since.

Thinking about the what he had done, I removed the furnace covers and found the bottom of the 1-year old a/c coil caked with dust and debris. I called the company and spoke with a woman there who assured me the owner would contact me shortly. Instead the tech came back and when I showed him the coil he gently vacuumed it off as best as he could. It's been a week I have not heard anything else from the company. In addition to needing to clean debris from all over the house near the supply vents, I also found a recessed-light frame on the floor in the basement, dislodged from a light near one of the ceiling-mounted supply vents. It's not broken, but it would have been proper for them to let me know it had come apart during their service.
From the FAQ on their website:
Q: Does the cleaning make a mess?
A: No, our cleaning process does not make a mess in your home. Why? First of all, we use strong truck mounted power vacuums to collect the debris we agitate. These trucks are actually strong enough to suck piles of bricks off the ground as compared to portable HEPA vacuums that will not suck up half inch screws from the floor. Second, we divide the system in half between supply and return to prevent dirt and debris from going through the furnace which protects your furnace. Third, our truck is located outside of your home where any possible malfunction will not affect you home as compared to a portable HEPA vacuum that if a seal or filter breaks, your home would be contaminated. Our truck-mounted equipment eliminates the possibility of equipment failures that could contaminate your home.
So they didn't do the service as advertised on their website, left my home a mess, clogged my a/c coil, and didn't let me know about the light fixture. Stay away from this company!
