Mr. Tolman was easy to work with.  He came out on a Sunday to give me an estimate.  He was honest and explained in great detail what the scope of the work would entail.  He also provided recommendations/ names of two tile businesses. 

Mr. Tolman was flexible with his schedule.  I had scheduled a chimney company to perform work that ran over the expected work completion date.  Mr. Tolman accommodated the chimney workers schedules and adjusted his schedule to ensure the job was finished as soon as possible.  He was very responsive when we were corresponding about the project.  The tiles look great and workmanship was top notch.  I highly recommend Tolman tile to anyone who needs professional tile work performed in their home.       

This was a very dirty, dusty job to remove the old concrete walls with chicken wire supports down to studs.  Suggested using smaller size tiles (12" x 12") instead of larger ones (12" x 24") to prevent paying for walls and floors to be leveled in this older home.  It was good advice.  He is very reliable, has fair prices, is very polite, and cleans up each day.

They worked from my drawings of the tile designs. Asked questions when anything was not clear. Excellent attention to detail. Took  waste and trash with them.  Three-day job-- they finished 1/2 day early. Always arrived on time. Has a great crew (2 guys). They were pleasant and it was obvious they enjoyed their work. Just wish the cover was put back/over the tub when the seal was applied. I still can't remove the sealant from the one side of the tub. Maybe not using the appropriate cleaning agent for it?  Best contractor there is. Highly recommend.  It has been a year since the work was done and it's impeccable.

I made the mistake of picking out my tile and tile designs before choosing my tile contractor. If I would have chosen my contractor first, I could have saved myself some time and grief. I thought I got a very good deal on some natural stone tile only to learn it was a good deal due to imperfections. The tile store closed and so I could not return the defective tile. I plan to get an estimate from him in the future. He was very meticulous and cleaned up every day.

Mr. Tolman arrived at the appointed time to give me an estimate for a backsplash in my kitchen. He was very pleasant and knowledgible. I hired him and as soon as the tile came in we made an appointment to have it installed. He did a wonderful job and made sure everything was to my satisfaction. I woud most certainly hire Mr. Tolman again.

It went well, they did a good job overall. The only issue we had was a communication issue with the bull nose tile. We told him we wanted the tile (which finishes the edging to the wall) to be shiney black to match the existing wall tiles. Somehow the company who he bought the tile from told him that we wanted the bull nose tile to match the floor tile. Rather than asking us about it, he went with what the company told him and installed the wrong tile. He replaced it with the black, but had to go with a higher black tile than we wanted because of the original incorrectly installed tiles. It looks okay, but we wish he would have been more communicative about the finishing to be sure it was correct before he installed it. I would work with this company again, but I would be involved more closely to be sure it is what we want from start to finish.

I will definitely call him for any future tile work, and highly recommend him. It was great to find a professional of this quality that didn't insist on a big job - his price was great.
