Tim showed up almost an hour late--he assumed he knew where i lived and had not checked first. His equipment looked pretty old--it was a carpet shampooer, not a steam cleaner. Guess I should have asked. He advertises $100 for a whole house in the News & Messenger, but when he came in and looked around, he said, "No, there are too many stains here--this will be $275." (When I made the appointment, I asked him about this price--I informed him that my carpet was pretty bad, told him the square footage, and asked how much more that would be. He said, "Oh, it may be a little more, but we'll work within your budget.") Argh! We were shocked at how much more he said it would cost. We used him anyway--we were too tired to try to bargain with him, we had waited so long, had the furniture all moved, etc. He did kind of an okay job on the carpets, and assured us they'd look even better when they were dry. Huh. After they were dry, some of the spots reappeared, and the carpet was kind of sticky from the soap. He was a real nice guy, but we'll never have him clean our carpets again.
