We hired Dave and Melanie Joyce of TDJ Concrete to install a large (~1300 sq ft) stamped concrete patio. We paid 50% + of the project cost in advance. They had the patio formed and had gravel laid, but then began to balk at complying with the terms of our agreement (using rebar, using color hardener, demanding payment in full before completion of project) and when we did not agree to pay the remaining balance in full, in advance, they abandoned the job, told us we were released from the contract and said to find someone else to finish it. They promised to return a majority of our paid moneys ($8600+), but never did so and never contacted us again or returned to the job.
We were left with a dangerous back yard that was unusable for over 5 months, and forced us to find another contractor at the height of the patio pouring season. The subsequent contractor only gave us a $1.00 per sq. ft. credit for the work TDJ had left behind. We had to wait almost 4 months (until September) to be able to get our project completed.
NOTE: Dave Joyce only held a Class C license, and actually was working beyond the dollar limit on his license ($10,000).
Based on our experience with TDJ Concrete, we would not recommend them.
