Not so well.
He was recommended by Hawaiian Pools, our pool company and had a good rating on Angie's list. Bobby did not disclose that the stone people were subcontractors and he did not supervise them well. His Angie's list information says that he has employees which he confirmed to us is true we guess but it does not mention that he also uses subcontractors nor did he tell us that he was hiring subcontractors to work on our pool deck. When we showed him some stones that were cut poorly, he said he would replace them. One end of the pool deck was sloped too much & he said that he would fix it. It is still sloped too much to put a table on. There is a noticeable hump near the center of one side of the pool where too much mortar was used. We noticed it later. When we showed him the problem he laughed it off & said "you want me to redo the area?" To make matters even worse, we lost an entire cherry tree near the patio. And, we noticed that the left over travertine stone was missing from where it had been & when he asked him about it he told us that he took to his garage! We have emailed him and left him messages but he is now ignoring us.
His Angie's list information said that seniors get a 5% discount - but he did not give it to us. It also says that he takes credit cards but when we tried to give him one he did not want to take it, said he did not have his credit card machine, & said he was losing $ on our job. He was $5,000 more than the stone company who would have taken up the entire pool concrete, not just resurface it & who did jobs for 2 of our friends, (including our neighbor) that we should have used. But since he was recommended by the pool company & he assured us that he would do a good job we chose to go with him even though he was higher. He also charged us more for the paver stones for even though they were in the proposal because he said that we chose more expensive paver stones. The stone company included taking up the entire pool deck, not just the bad areas and included the exact paver stones in their lower cost proposal. We were definitely taken advantage of and we got a lousy job to boot.
"Subcontractors: I needed to outsource the stone work to complete the project before pool season. They told me they wanted to do the job in the winter of 2013 not during out busy season. Poorly cut stone: I intend to fix on my next visit. Sloped concrete and hump in pool deck: I explained to her that we did the best we could being that we were dealing with existing concrete. Dead cherry tree: I don’t see how that could be our fault. We didn’t touch the root system or use chemicals. Missing travertine: Contract was for materials and labor not just for labor. %5 discount: They did not contact me through Angie’s list and never mentioned the discount before singing contract. Credit cards: We do except credit cards. [member name removed] saw no reason to use a credit card which I felt very considerate. Charge more for paving stones: [member name removed] chose a more expensive material, I only charged her for the difference in material cost. Paving stones not being the correct color: They chose Baja beige from a brochure, that was what was ordered and installed. There is no way possible the job could have been done for $5000.00 cheaper. I went over the estimate several of times and gave them the best price I could. I will say that [member name removed] were very nice people and I’m sorry that they feel this way about me and my business. They hired us to do more work after the travertine was done and they wanted us to do some smaller projects as well. I don’t feel that the job was lousy at all. I think the job looked very nice when it was done. They were not taken advantage of."
He showed up when he said he would, worked when the weather cooperated and worked his butt off to get the project to a point that it didnt interfere with my family time over Christmas and so that we could use the deck for the holidays. He also helped me with a couple of small things around the house while he was there.
Bottom line is I would recommend him to anyone. He is not a salesman. He wont wow you with talk. He just beats the price and provides top notch products to his customers. If you want glitz go to teh salesman. If you want to save some money and get teh same quality as everyone else contact NV Home Improvement.
