The owner is very friendly, and seemed willing to do what ever we asked for during the hiring process and early into the project. I explained how and what we wanted done to the bathroom which was by building codes. We even provided videos when it appeared he had never installed a linear drain in the shower floor. I provided the installation instruction sheet from the drain company. The contractor stated he did not install drains that way, which included installing the waterproof membrane incorrectly. He poured a concrete floor in the shower without installing a bedding/sand subfloor up to the drain flange. This created a pocket with the membrane around the drain flange. The second problem involved painting. I instructed the contractor to skim the entire ceiling and all walls, sand, prime and paint. He did not agree with my instruction and spray painted the ceiling without any prep work. I paid him an agreed amount for the work he had completed and he was terminated when he did not want to follow my instruction. His references stated he does land scaping great work and exterior painting. I will not hire this contractor again.
