I signed up for 12 weeks for a fitness trainer. They did not tell me at the time that they have auto renewal of their gym membership. I noticed that they charged me again for another 12 weeks. I called the home office and they stated that they would refund the money.

La Fitness needs to do a better job on who they hire.

So let me start by saying that I am pretty particular when it comes to personal training and, to be honest, I am not overly comfortable with one-on-one workouts...I feel weird having someone watch me workout. That said, this is my experience with the personal training program at LA Fitness. To start off, I like LA Fitness, particularly since they offer childcare. I only wish the childcare hours were not so limiting on the weekends, when I actually have the most time and energy to go to the gym. Now, back to the personal training aspect. I signed up for 1 year of personal training sessions,30 minutes, once per week ($120/month). To LA Fitness' credit, you can buy training sessions and they dont expire. I finished paying for mine in April of this year, but I did not use most of them last year so I have (sadly) 30 sessions left to use. Another good thing about LA Fitness, you can sign up with any and as many different trainers as you like until you find the right fit...and it's not a big deal or awkward to switch trainers since you can schedule appointments online.
Trainer number 1: male, showed up 5 minutes late and then took another 5 minutes chatting with other trainers (completely ignoring me) before starting my session. Acted distant and cool during the training session, spoke to me like I wasn't trying my best, and then ended the session 5 minutes early. Did not want to fill out my log book, which was part of the reason I signed up for training in the first place, to get a log of workouts I wouldn't think to do. Needless to say, I did not sign up to train with him again.
Trainer number 2: male, I worked out with him 7-10 times and his workouts were effective, but kind of boring to me. He was nice, but I did not look forward to our workouts. Eventually my husband changed his work schedule so I could no longer meet this trainer since I did not have childcare during our early morning training time.
Trainer number 3: I finally decided to give up on the male trainers. After all, it seemed that is what made me most uncofortable about the one-on-one training. So this time I signed up with a female. We met, had great rapoire and even better...she was holding small group training sessions which was right up my ally since I don't care for the one-on-one thing. I went to one session, missed the next week for a scheduled child function, and by the third week she had quit. That was so disheartening because she was great and I really enjoyed the group! Worse still, I found out no one "took over" her small group session...they just farmed them out individually to other trainers. What a bad move. Tells me that no one is really overseeing the program enough to take care of this group.
Trainer number 4: I stuck with a woman and again I was happy this time. She pushes me VERY hard and I like it. My schedule has changed again and am having to take another break for two weeks, but I hope to see her again when everything gets back to normal. She does not conduct small group training, but I still like her...hope she's still there when I go back!
