I knew the source of the leak (as one of the companies pointed out, even a blind man could find the leak--then quoted me $1075 for the repair on TOP of the $350 bill they handed me for the visit, 'leak check' and 1 lb of R-410 for confirming the leak), it was the liquid line drier filter that had rusted/corroded and needed to be replaced. I am a mechanical engineer, so I know that replacing that part is not as complicated and costly as fixing/replacing a leaking coil. I called Harold on Thursday afternoon, and explained the situation to him. He have me a quote based on what I told him, and said he could be there the next morning! He gave me a one-hour time window (unlike the 4 hour window the other guys give you), and then called me the next morning asking if he could show up 30 minutes early. When he arrived, he quickly assessed the situation (yep--need a new liquid line drier filter), and got to work. He was very thorough, and took great care to make sure that when he recharged the system he let the system run for a while and took the time to ensure the system had the correct sub-cooling temperature.
While $575 isn't a small price, it is a fair price for the approximately 3 hour visit plus parts and way better than the other guys. I would highly recommend Harold at Justice Heating and AC.
