Great Job Moving and Storage

I was incredibly prepared, I had over 50 boxes (3x4ft and stacked in 10 rows of 5 ) and all color coordinated. I even went as far as to create a color schemed map of my new place. When the movers arrived, they lead mover asked if he could take a picture of my preparation since he had never seen anything like this. This allowed the movers to efficiency to move in and out as they needed. The bulky stuff was handled with care and if when they were in doubt, they asked...a real plus. The truck was loaded quickly and we made great time to the new place. Once there, they unloaded quickly and even asked I desired to have some things (beds, etc) set up and installed.

The movers went from place to place with me. They were patient, professional and took their job very seriously. They were careful with the pieces and nothing was damaged or broken. When we arrived at the rental, they set up the beds and moved everything to the exact spot that I wanted. They were great and I have already referred them to a friend of mine who is moving into a retirement community in the spring. Great company and great employees

We purchased the Angie's List Deal for $299 for 4 hours of moving labor with 3 men. The 3-man crew arrived promptly and got right to work. They were efficient and professional, working diligently the entire time. We will definitely use them again if the need arises and will definitely recommend them to others!

I am very impressed with this company. They are very attentive, professional, and trustworthy. I had to change my move date at the last minute. They were very flexible. They have an immediate response time for any questions. The movers were very polite and professional. Great deal. Great service. I highly recommend this company.

I purchased the moving deal for GnJ movers on Angie's list, the deal was $300 for a 3 man crew with 16' truck, for 3 hours. The movers called ahead of time about when they were going to reach my apartment building. They arrived on time and the clock for the 3 hour move started as soon as they arrived at the location. They went over the terms and conditions and explained all the charges, and any additional ones if I would incur any. After that they got right to work wrapping up the furniture in blankets (included in the service) and shrink wrapping the mattress and couch (not included in deal, extra charges per roll of shrink wrap). While two of the movers were wrapping furniture, one of the movers was dismantling the bed frame and packing it up. I already had about 28 assorted small, medium and large boxes packed and ready to move. The remaining furniture items (desk, a dresser drawer, dining table, tv stand, lamps, bookshelves) were loaded on the truck and driven to my storage unit and unloaded there. The whole job took longer than the 3 hours I had paid for on Angie's List. The overage included the time to travel from the apartment to the storage unit in somewhat heavy traffic and the extra time it took to organize and pack the storage unit efficiently. It took another 45 mins to complete the job that resulted in an additional 45min. over the previous 3 hours paid for, incurring a charge of $75 for the 3/4ths of an hour of time over the deal, and the rate was $100/hr for a 3 man crew including the truck. At the end I paid an additional $75 for the time, some additional amount that I cannot recall for the packing material like shrink wrap that I bought on the spot. This did not include any gratuities, which I later provided separately after the whole task was completed. Overall it was a great move, no damage to anything, movers were professional, courteous and punctual. I used them again later on, for a move from my storage unit to my new apartment.

These guys were great. Came in, assessed the situation, and got to wrapping and moving the items. They finished 5 minutes before my four hours was up. Excellant!! Saved me money. Materials were priced good too. Would definitely use them again.

Excellent service. Jeff knows what he is doing and his crew are good movers. they were careful not to damage my old house and gave my new home the same treatment. They move fast and take few breaks. A great value for your money. I was surprised at how much the supplies cost to facilitate the move (I packed myself) for things like wrapping up TVs, etc. I am sure they are equal with most movers--but be aware of this additional cost when you move, no matter who you go with.

This moving company did not only exactly what their ad expressed that they would do, they went above and beyond what was expected for my move. I reserved them for the three hours as described, but had to pay one hundred dollars more because I went over the time that I had scheduled. Going over the allotted time was not their fault at all. They were hard workers, and had there not been an issue with the facilities and building managers at my new apartment, they would have been finished within the three hours, if not sooner than that. The three man crew called me an hour ahead of time to confirm the time and location where they would meet me. They were on time when they met me at my storage unit. In fact they were a little early. All three men were dressed professionally and were very courteous. In one review for this company I read that they were smokers and they were unhappy with this. I did see one of the men smoking. But they did not do this anywhere near my car, our furniture, the storage unit, or anything of the sort. I wouldn't be deterred by the fact that you may be dealing with smokers. They do not smell like smoke, and I grew up with plenty of people who smoked and the smell is awful. Not the case with G&J. The man in charge (I believe Alex) explained their process, walked me through the paperwork, asked exactly what would be moved where, and made sure that I was informed of everything taking place. It took them thirty to forty five minutes to move a huge armoire, a large TV, oversized refrigerator, console table, an enormous and heavy mirror, a washer/dryer, beds, couch, love seat, Persian and Oriental rugs, bookcases, dressers, and more out of the storage unit into the truck. Nothing was damaged. They were careful with absolutely everything. Then they helped me move boxes from my car to the storage unit which I never asked them to do, nor did I expect them to assist me. To be realistic, very few people are willing to do things like this if they don't need to. This was NOT an easy move. They were moving my furniture and boxes from a storage unit, to the house I was currently living in. They were then to take some of the furniture out and put in my old house, and then take more of my furniture and boxes into the moving truck to be taken to my new apartment. I was giving them a mess to deal with. This was such a quick move on my part, (only one week to be in my new apartment) that I barely had boxes for my things. Things were in shopping bags, trash bags, bins, and suitcases. It was an absolute nightmare. All three of them were patient with me and reassured me multiple times that this was their job and they were there to help me. I still felt terribly because it was so hot and this was not going to be a quick and easy move. They had to back a huge moving truck into our driveway which may seem routine, but this is a very narrow driveway with an expensive luxury car sitting in the driveway that couldn't be moved as the person with the only set of keys was out of town. They didn't come close to hitting the car. They followed me in my car to my new apartment and they encountered several issues due to the difficult layout of my new apartment building. There was only one loading dock and it was situated on the other side of the building from where my actual apartment was. Why the apartment building didn't have two loading docks is beyond me, but they remained professional, courteous, and incredibly helpful. Due to the fact that the apartment was on the other side of the building, the move did take an hour longer than expected. These were NOT the kind of men who worked slowly on purpose to get as much money as they possibly could from me. They would have been finished in three hours with time to spare if they did not have to trek all the way from one end to another. With all of my boxes filled with tons of glass objects, incredibly expensive porcelain, china, etc., not one single thing was broken. I was the one who dropped a box with dishes in it, and when one of them accidentally dropped my vacuum, he did not stop apologizing. The vacuum wasn't even broken, one of the parts that always had fallen off fell off and we placed it back on. I have had movers in the past who weren't remorseful for breaking a Chinese vase, let alone a vacuum. I really can't stress enough how wonderful this company was. They were the easiest part of my move. I was so worried about hiring a moving company again, having had issues with moving previously. I have hired Starving Students and Two Guys and a Truck/Van and have had things destroyed or "lost" and / or broken. To add insult to injury, those moving companies were way more expensive than G&J. Bottom line: hire these men if you want a great and smooth move. Clean, professional, polite, patient...I could really go on for quite some time relaying how happy I was with them. I was so satisfied with my experience that I will be hiring them to move my Mother's items in the storage unit to a smaller unit and I will recommend them to everyone I know. I hope that their business only continues to grow and I would use them again in a heartbeat. Excellent service. I don't have a single complaint!

Everything went very well. The moving team showed up on time, and did a very professional job.

Overall, they were very polite and efficient. They wrapped everything with care and handled our furniture the same way. I would definitely use them again. In fact, I wouldn't want to use anybody else.

They started around 10am and finished around 5pm. There was a $50 stair charge for moving to a 4th floor apartment, $40 charge for packing 2 tvs ($20 each) and $8 per piece charge for shrinkwraping the sofas and the mattresses. Each of these charges were explained upfront via email when I scheduled and in person before the move started. Their truck was full to capacity by the time everything was in there. We didn't have that much furniture to begin with so if you are moving from a single family house or just have a lot of large furniture you might consider asking them for a larger truck (angie's deal only covers a 16' truck). Overall they were very courteous, worked hard and nothing got damaged. Their prices are towards the higher end of the scale but I would rather pay a little more and get good service. I would definitely recommend G&J and would use them again for any future moving needs.

Jeff the contact for the company was very responsive to my requests.The moving crew arrived 45 min late because they were stuck in the traffic. They did give me a call to inform me they will be late so it was not a big deal. The movers were very professional and worked really hard to move fast. The moving was done in 2 hr and 50min so it was covered by the coupon I purchsed from Angieslist. I only paid a small extra amount for the wrappings for my mattress. I am satisfied with their service and would recommend them to my friends.

Bought a new house and we used G&J twice in past month with the Angie's List coupon. Once to move household goods from the old house to storage while we prep it for listing and a second time to get everything from storage to the new house after settlement. Scheduling and communications was straightforward and they were quick to respond on phone and emails. The movers worked hard, really taking only one break during each move. They were also respectful of our furniture and goods taking care that pieces were protected. We would use them again.

I purchased the 3 hours/3 movers/$300 coupon from Angie's List. The crew was late, but they called ahead to let me know they would be so it wasn't a big deal to me. They arrived, scoped the place and recommended shrink wrapping the mattress and couch because it was raining out. The extra supplies cost about 30 bucks. They did a great job and struggled through moving some difficult pieces into difficult places. They worked quickly and efficiently, wrapped everything up really well, and finished within the three hours so I didn't have any additional charges. They were very friendly and courteous. Would hire again.

The crew of two strong young men, with good physical appearances, showed up on time, took a few minutes for administration, scoped the job, and proceeded to work. In carrying the heavy components of the workstation from the loft to the truck, they had to negotiate portions of the staircase that were circular. This was an excruciating process. They were extremely careful not to damage the walls and they succeeded. Before they began, the team leader explained that they will try very hard not to gouge the walls, but that it might happen given the narrow stairs and the weight and size of the components of the work station. They loaded the truck carefully and in about an hour, had the loading completed. I led them on the five mile drive across the county to the delivery address. There they reversed the process and soon had the work station erected in the house, and the other items spotted. The men were careful and cooperative during the process. They completed the job within the three hours and offered to fill lthe time with more work. I had none. This job went well because we were organized and prepared and they were excellent at what they do.

I was looking for companies for my my move in early July. I was moving from a 2 Bedroom Condo to a TH just 5 miles down the road. I searched Angie's List and came across G&J Moving, they had a good rating and they had a current "Big Deal" going on. The deal stated 40% off for 2 movers for 4 hrs for $299, after emailing the company we determined it would probably be better to have 3 movers for 3 hrs instead. I mentioned I had items in a storage unit and we would also need to take a trip over there, which I was told would not be a problem. The movers arrived at 9am on the day of the move, the first thing I noticed right off the bat was they were smoking, if your going to be handling peoples personal items, and going in an out of their place, you should not be smelling of smoke. Secondly the truck they brought was pretty small, I was told it was a 16 inch truck (which just going off the details on Uhaul's Truck Size website it only able to hold a little more then a 2 bedroom Apt. The guy in charge went over the pricing (and extra charges for wrapping items etc) At first he didn't realize I had pre-purchased the "Big Deal", he started listing off the hourly price which he said was $100 an hour. Ok so wasn't this what I prepaid? Basically that was the normal price so the "The Big Deal was not 40% off. The movers began packing up all the stuff and they did a good job, when they were almost done inside my Condo they told me they were running out of room in the truck and didnt know if they could fit anything from the storage unit, but they could make multiple trips if I wanted. At this point (almost 3 hrs later) I decided we could take a quick trip over and see what we could fit in the truck, they did manage to get about 2/3 of the stuff into the moving truck., but it required wasting time pulling a lot of the items out and repositioning a lot of the items. Next we headed to the new TH, while driving there I noticed once again they were smoking. We arrived at the TH about 10 minutes later and they proceeded to unload and unpack everything. When they were finally finished my total extra cost (after the Big Deal) was an additional $305, this was for 2hrs and 15 mins extra of labor and wrapping a TV and mattress and a few other items + Credit Card surcharge. So in total I paid around $605 to move 5 miles down the street from a 2 bedroom condo and I didnt even get all my items moved. I did email both G&J and Angielist after the move to voice my concern about the issues above, both G&J and AngieList both offered a partial refund which is definitely A+ in my book. Again, the movers themselves did a good deal, and maybe there was just a miscommunication between AngieList and the company when they set up the "Big Deal". Angielist has since removed the previous deal and switched it with something else. G&J also said they would talk to their movers regarding smoking on the job, so in the future this may not be an issue.

Basically I covered this question in the last one. As I said above, the three gentlemen who came with the truck arrived early, set right to work and were extremely careful with my daughter's possessions. Nothing was broken or missing. And they were extremely grateful when my husband gave them a generous tip--as if they didn't expect anything. What a nice bunch of guys who made a painful experience so much easier.

The crew that moved us called to apologize they were running late though they had given a range of noon - 2pm and they arrived at 1:45. The movers wrapped everything and loaded onto the truck and onto storage. I thought that we were not going to get everything from storage onto the truck, but they made it fit and I was not worried that something was jammed in or risked being broken. They unloaded the truck and althought I told them not to worry about putting bedframes together we were surprised to see that night that in fact they were together. What a welcome surprise that was! The two man team worked hard and were friendly and careful with our posessions.

When I contacted them, they were very responsive - sending me information the same day with complete transparency on their pricing and what was covered. They were on time, extremely professional, and focused on keeping our furniture safe and secure. They brought blankets and a lot of tape to wrap up our furniture. They were swift in assessing what needed to be moved, what order to pack, etc.. When they got to the new home, they gently placed everything where it needed to be. The entire time they were polite and efficient. Came across very experienced in moving.

Overall the entire move, albeit unorganized on our behalf, went smoothly and efficiently with no broken items!

From the first call I had a professional, friendly estimate from Jeff. This estimate was reviewed and confirmed by email. The team showed up on time and were well prepared. I had moved three times recently with a considerable amount of art work and fragile furniture, past experiences taught me to be around while the men wrapped and loaded. No worries here, the men were respectful and knowledgeable as to how to handle everything. The team of three men worked nonstop and accomplished everything I asked. The price was very reasonable and it was time efficient with using three men for my move. It was raining the day of my move. They laid blankets over my beige carpet so that mud would not be tracked in. No damage + thoughtful, hard working + owner operated + on time, well, equipped + reasonable prices = FIVE STARS Wonderful experience with this company. YES, I will use them again.

They did everything perfectly. I would recommend them. I have nothing to complain about.

This is the second time we have used G & J Moving. The first time was on December 23rd, right before Christmas. We got a call from our settlement company letting us know we could settle a week early on a home that we were purchasing. We by chance found G & J and they were able to help us move with a very short notice. The two guys (Alex and Jeff) were wonderful! They charge by the hour but were not only efficient; they were very careful with our furniture in packing, moving, loading and unloading. They were very friendly and are just good guys all around. It was freezing that day and they never complained and had an amazing work ethic.We used them again yesterday (yes, we just sold the house we bought in December) and this time it was Alex along with 2 other guys we had not met before. At first, I was a little worried because we had such a great experience the first time so I was afraid that this move wouldn't go as well. I was incredibly wrong. The guys were wonderful. I am very sad that at the moment I can't remember one of the guys names {I'll call him Sept. 4th} he was amazing! He was so great at packing and was so positive in the whole process. We had a very full 4 bedroom house with an office and gym and had a 25 foot storage unit to fit it into. I didn't think there would be any way to make it work but Sept. 4th, he did it. He was also very encouraging to the other gentleman on the job pointing out tips along the way. They are all so positive which is now very important to me because I have used OTHER moving companies in the past and literally had one crew cursing and complaining for much of the day and by the end of the day shooting dirty looks at me because they didn't like how I packed the boxes. I will never use anybody else again except J & G! By the end of the night we were talking about them coming back in early September to finish our move to our new house and when I told them the date it turns out that all 3 of them are not going to be on my move for various reasons so I loved my crew so much I told them I wanted to change my date so they would move our stuff into our new house since they took so much care but they assured me that I will get the same great service which deep down I am sure of. We even referred our friend to them a couple of months ago so I know we are not biased because he raved about how awesome they were as well. If you need to move and want a company you can trust I recommend these guys without reservation.
