Great Job Moving and Storage

This is part one of this review - part two is after I speak to the "owner". I thought this was going to go very well considering the 3 movers showed up about 45 minutes early, ahead of the 3-6pm window I was given. I don't remember the driver's name and he did not have on a G and J red sweat shirt - but Paul and Max did. Starting with the more positive side of this experience... Paul was very nice and pleasant and seemed to be doing most of the hauling up to my apartment. He asked me where I wanted things and didn't seem to have any problem. I did not see the driver very much, but he seemed pleasant as well. Even though they did finish in under 4 hours - actually they finished in about 2.5 hours. Towards the end, it did seem like they were rushing to finish. This is when I saw more of Max. He was rather nonchalant in attitude. At first, my things were being places where I asked but later towards the end when I had to step away to address some other things I came back and things were just everywhere. When Max told me that they were done, I asked him about reassembling some items that I talked to the owner about and also listed on a form that they had me fill out after I bought the service. The owner told me pleasantly that it would be taken care of and that reassembly was no problem. However, Max seemed to have a problem with me asking him to assemble my items. He said he could do it but that they weren't liable for anything that was put together wrong. Huh? What kind of answer is that if your company according to the owner says that you reassemble? He just didn't come off as if he wanted to do it more so than it being a liability. Considering they were done early what was the big deal? In any case, Max proceeded to put the bed together rather quickly. After that, he didn't ask if there was anything else - he pretty much just gave me the paperwork to sign to finish the service. I wasn't going to press the issue since there were other things going on and with that attitude I didn't run the risk of something being done wrong. When we went outside, I inspected the container and there bits and pieces of things that I picked up. Again, I would think they would have stepped in there to do that. But what am I thinking about - customer service? So they were off quickly and happily. Later on, when I decided to move my bed over - Thank God - a piece under the bed that holds it up for support fell over (not to my surprise). Wouldn't you know - Max didn't even bother to use the screws that were clearly taped to the support frame that fell over! So in summary, I paid $349 for 1 competent guy, 1 lackadaisical guy and 1 I barely saw for 2.5 hours and nothing really reassembled ---- when it was supposed to be $349 for 4 hours, 3 guys with reassembly. Let's see what happens when I call the owner. Needless, to say I'm very disappointed for the money I paid and wonder how this company is rated so high.

The two men movers were professional and handled my items with care. For example, they wrapped my leather ottoman with a blanket and removed bulbs from my lamp prior to moving. They also helped me move other containers even though I did not list these items on the prechecklist sent via email. One comment: I did not like the fact that my drivers license number and DOB was "needed" for paperwork. I asked for a copy of their privacy policy but the mover on site did not have one. The reason given for capturing the information was to ensure the company would be paid. I prepaid the company so I still don't know why my personal information was needed and how my information will be secured. Overall, the movers were pleasant and very efficient! I would use them again or refer them to my colleagues/ neighbors so long as I receive a copy of their privacy policy.

These guys were very good. The never stopped moving the whole time. They were carful with our belongings and moved us well into the evening. Very good. Would use them again anytime.

The guys from G & J did a great job. They called ahead to let us know they were running early, and would be over ahead of the scheduled start time. The loading, moving, and unloading was efficient but thorough. The guys treated all of our belongings with care and got it done ahead of schedule. Thanks G & J!

I had a great experience. They did a really nice job. They were very responsible. Everything was very good and positive. We had a pretty extensive move but they were very clear about what their price was going to be. They worked quickly but carefully.

The movers arrived on time and were very courteous, efficient, and professional. They took very good care of all the items to be moved. They were even prepared to hoist some items over the balcony (a loveseat, office chair, and filing cabinet), but in the end, I decided to keep the loveseat on the lower level, and they were able to carry the other two items up the narrow, spiral staircase with no problem. I was very pleased with the service and with the company overall. I would recommend them and use them again.

Everything went well. Getting the estimate easily done via email. They were also able to answer my questions about wardrobe boxes, which I ended up purchasing from them. On the morning of the move, the two workers showed up on time and did not waste a trip. We bought the 4 hour deal for $349, which was very reasonable based on my research. The move did end up taking about an hour more than the 4 hours we bought. We paid an additional fee for the extra hour -- I don't remember how much that was, but it was completely reasonable, and we were told in advance that we'd pay X amount for any time over the estimate.

G&J were punctual and professional. Once we quickly discussed what would be moved they immediately began working. Everything that left our home was professionally wrapped and best of all they completed the work within 3 hours. I would definitely use their service again.

They wanted to charge me for an entire roll of tape to wrap one piece of furniture but I refused to pay for that much tape. Two of the movers were great but one guy was not careful with our stuff. I did pull one of the men aside to explain that I did not want that particular guy moving any of the bigger items. I noticed later that the guy was only carrying small stuff such us as pillows. The other two men worked efficiently and I was pleased. They were on time and courteous.

I was extremely satisfied with G&J. I have a lot of antique furniture and they handled everything with great care. I also have a very old VERY heavy upright piano. In Florida it took 4 guys and 45 minutes to move it from my house to the storage box. It only took G&J 2 guys and about 5 minutes. It was a piece of cake for them. They were also very fast without being careless. Everything was done with about an hour to spare. Excellent service!

They charged us for an hour of time that they got lost. They dented a dining room chair. They lost all the screws to our playhouse, which they took apart.

Purchased the big deal for three hours and 16ft truck. Decided to upgrade to 26ft truck for additional $100. The three workers showed up within the scheduled window. They were friendly and professional. One of the three guys seemed a bit older and didnt move as fast as the other two. However, all seemed motivated and took good care of my possessions and were very clear on what they would be doing. The initial load took a bit longer than I thought it should have (4hrs) but it was somewhat understandable given I lived in a high rise with an elevator. The unloading of the information was much faster which made my question why they couldnt work that fast for the loading. Overall, not a bad experience. Total move time was about 7 hours. Additional charges for tape (they use a lot of tape) but everything went as expected. I would probably use them again.

That was great. We really loved the movers. It was a half hour driving. They wrapped up everything and put it in the truck and then put everything away when it was done.

All of the crew members were polite, friendly and efficient. We were nervous about our new construction home being damaged - but there wasn't a single scratch on the walls or hardwood floors after the move was over. We would definitely recommend G&J Moving!

G&J provided three movers and they did an excellent job. I was first provided a briefing of what the crew was going to do, how they were to handle my items, and added costs. The crew properly covered and taped my furniture to prevent scratches and dents. These gentlemen worked fast and handled my stuff with kid gloves. Not one item was damaged, scratched or dented. Also impressive was how well they stacked and packed the truck, ensuring everything was packed properly and there was no shift of items. When we arrived at my new residence, they unpacked everything, place the items I requested and helped me assemble my bed and desk. All in all the work was done to my satisfaction and direction.

The crew were punctual and professional, and everything went as expected. re price, they encouraged me to purchase bubble wrap to protect the glass in a china cabinet, but (as a former moving man myself) I knew this sort of breakage was unlikely. Their final cost was actually less than I expected, so I was very pleased. And of course everything arrived safe and sound.

The moving went very well. We were happy with their professionalism and hard work. The crew even find out a solution to transport all furnitures in one trip. It really saved us time and money.

We had a very positive experience with G&J. I bought a deal here on Angie's List, they were prompt with getting in touch to set up a day and time, and notified us of a cancellation so we could get an earlier start than scheduled. The movers were professional and courteous. We had no issues with damage to our belongings. They were very explicit that when they stopped for lunch en route, that it would be off the clock. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone.

These guys were the best movers we've used in the 6 times we've moved in the DC area. They were the fastest and least expensive. They made sure that all of our items were wrapped securely. They showed up just after 11 and were all done by 2:30. Could not believe how efficient they were and the price couldn't be beat.

A coworker recommended G&J, and I couldn't have been happier with the service. The experience started with prompt and professional email communication to get an estimate and set up a date, and I bought an Angie's List coupon for a three-hour, three-man, 16-foot truck package. On the day of the move, the crew arrived on time with all the equipment we'd agreed on and quickly surveyed the job. Originally the leader said he didn't know if they could complete the move in three hours, but they worked so fast and efficiently, they finished ahead of schedule! They wrapped all the furniture well with blankets, expertly navigating our house's narrow hallways and tricky angles with our bulky furniture, so nothing was damaged at all. And they were very accommodating when we decided to add a few last-minute items when we saw the truck wasn't full. Note: They charge for packing tape (which they used to wrap the furniture), but it was reasonably-priced, and they told us about it upfront. I would recommond G&J to anyone looking for movers. Just be sure to book early!

The move took longer than I expected (resulting in a higher cost than I expected), but I probably just had unrealistic expectations. The workers seemed to be working hard the whole time. They were respectful of our property and everything went fine.

The three movers showed up on time. They were polite and answered all of our questions. They provided dishware and other packing services. They disassembled and reassembled a bunk bed and queen bed. No dishes were broken. Nothing was scratched or damaged. The movers were careful, efficient, and courteous. For example, there was some confusion at the move-in site about where to put couches, lamps, book shelves, etc. The movers remained patient and worked with us. The cost at the end was very reasonable. We've moved several times over the last twenty years. And Jeff's crew was the best.

Cons: I thought I had lost a couple of boxes. Turned out I didn't, but they didn't get back to me to let me know they had looked for them and couldn't find them. Given I had expressed a concern, I think they should have followed up on it. Pros: Other than that, they weren't the best movers I've used in the past, but they definitely weren't the worst. I asked that nothing on the table I was sitting at be touched, next time I looked up, it was all gone. Other than that, the guys were courteous, efficient, yet quick. The move went fairly smoothly. One mishap was my fault (the item turned out to be defective). It ended up damaging some other, unimportant things. He was so apologetic, He was more devastated by the damage than I was. Immediately after they left, I found that the shelves in my bookcase hadn't been setup. I called and they came right back and set it up. That made me very happy.
