Please do not hire this company if you care about your things. Executive Movers refused to pay for damages due to their incompetent packers. The company that brands itself as and quot; The Best Moveand quot; claimed that since my things were moved to another storage facility, (where they sat for about six months untouched), they weren't responsible for damage. That's a lot of contract language speaking.
The fact is, the packers did not protect some of my most important possessions. Some of my things were put in boxes without adequate protection. An antique mirror that has been in my family for 120 years had its frame shattered. The mirror is heavy, about 50 pounds, and I called it out as a high value item. The packers placed one sheet of paper around this 50 pound mirror and put it in a box. The frame broke in about twenty places. The other things were less valuable but cost me money to repair or replace nonetheless.
Executive Movers' reason for refusing to pay - you have 30 days to inspect your belongings. Ok, so when I decided to move my things from a DC storage facility to one in my new city, I specifically asked Yo-G about the 30 day policy. He said, and quot; We'll make you whole if anything is damaged.and quot; He did not keep his promise. On top of that, the so-called adjusters took three months to tell me they wouldn't pay for any of the damage.
About eight packers showed up. Half were stoned and one, the crew chief, could hardly standup. She was literally splayed over my counter packing my kitchen things. I was nervous the whole time that things weren't being done properly. I was able to inspect several boxes onsite and found as many mistakes. But when you move, you know how it is, you can't possibly be everywhere at once.
Here's the other kicker, I would say about 25% of the boxes were totally unnecessary. One box, I kid you not, had mounds of paper and once we got through all the paper, we found one Sharpie and two paper clips. I took a picture of that and sent it to Yo-G. That's part of the scam as you pay by the box.
I also took pictures of the packaging, or lack thereof, that was used for all the damaged items. It was as clear as a bell that the packaging was sub-par. How about this - two framed prints were put together in one box without any paper for protection. Guess what, both frames broke.
Even with all this evidence, they said anyone could have gotten into the storage container and damaged the items. I offered to get them the facility's electronic records showing that I entered only one time after my things were moved. Additionally, the container was stacked to the brim by Executive Movers. I couldn't have pulled anything out even if I wanted to. And anyway, who goes around looking for stored items to damage? It's absurd.
I paid more than $9,000 for my move. For $500, Executive Movers could have satisfied me. That was the extent of what I claimed. The mirror, which is most important, will never be the same and any antique value it had is lost. Luckily, we can still use it.
If you care about your things, don't use this company. if you care about service after the sales, don't use this company.
They stored all of my stuff, and I didn't have to worry about any of it. On top of that, they are super honest. When they came to give me a quote, they said it'd be a higher monthly payment to store my things. I left some stuff at the condo for the stager, and they called me back to tell me that the weight was lower, so the monthly storage rate was as well. They could have just let me pay the higher monthly rate, and they didn't.
When they came to move the things into my new place, they were very careful with the freshly painted walls and hardwood floors. I already know that if I move again, I am moving all of my stuff with them.
