They did a great job and corrected some work that really wasn't up to par from previous contractors. House is safely wired and quality of work is consistent throughout.

I have a 100 year old row home that needed major electrical work. This team was super professional and amazing. They kept me in the loop every step of the way. Competitive pricing and you can tell their quality and work speak for their self! Excellent company and working with them again to do more projects.

Very well. They showed up on time and did a great job and cleaned up everything before they left. They even hooked up the ceiling fan for me, even thought it wasn't in the original work request. Used them for a job prior to this one and will hire again.

I hired EMS for installing a temporary power pole for a construction site. The price was reasonable. They did a great job installing the pole and electrical equipment on the pole. The Dominion Power company wanted them to fix a few things. I called EMS, they responded in a timely manner and fixed the issues. Even though I paid them, they came and fixed the issue. They appear to be very professional and nice. I usually don't write review but I am writing one because I felt I owe them one. Thanks, EMS. Looking forward to doing more business with you in the future.

Excellent work was performed with all of the work we needed. EMS saved us money on interior/exterior lighting and painting. Ems is very professional, prompt and they understand the customer needs. EMS is highly recommended for all of your needs. We are a church and would continue to use the services of EMS. EMS is very efficient and a pleasure to work with. A++ for this company. Edwin, Daniel and their team are extremely knowledgeable and great to work with.

Very pleased with the work and price given by EMS. Their work replacing and upgrading our electrical panel/circuit breaker, and the power outlets throughout our home, was excellent. Edwin came out, immediately diagnosed the problems with our electrical setup and made reasonable recommendations to improve the safety of our system. He also made sure to get the electrical work inspected and certified afterwards. Likewise, after doing the work, Daniel made reasonable and welcome suggestions for upgrades to improve energy efficiency. Based on that we hired them to install attic fan, and do some work on our gutters and install in a screen door. EMS is very responsive, easy to get out to do work, and much more cost-effective than some of the other companies from which we solicited quotes. It's a family business, not corporate, We will keep using them!

We learned of EMS through Angie's List, and boy did we luck out. We recorded a half dozen estimates to rewire our entire home in late 2019, and we ended up choosing the right electrician. EMS expanded our breaker panel and replaced all of the ancient wiring, switches, outlets, and fixtures from when the house was built in 1937. We are now fully modernized to 2020 standards. EMS was super reliable with the pricing, communication, and overall workmanship. The crews cleaned up their job sites each day, where many other contractors wouldn't have bothered. EMS also handled the permitting with the county, a big plus any civilian living through a home renovation. Daniel and Edwin are a solid father & son duo. I highly recommend consultation with EMS for any electrical job, big or small.

Process was handled professionally from start to finish. Edwin responded quickly and provided a very reasonable quote for the job. They were able to accommodate my availability and did an excellent job with the installation and clean up. One of my concerns with this job was potential damage to the drywall and ceiling during the installation process. They were able to minimize the holes in the drywall and patched these up perfectly. Highly recommend Edwin and EMS.

Very poorly! Charged $225 to come out for their advertised (on web page) FREE ESTIMATE. The visit invoice read plus materials - NONE used! Technician touched side of center box, lights temporarily came on but 30 mins. after they left they did not come on! They NEVER sent me or told me a breakdown of necessary service(s) although their web site advertises FREE ESTIMATE. They NEVER told me about any application of the fee towards any work done or any available discounts. BUYER BEWARE. You deserve a detailed, written estimate from a company that say's "the part is old (13 years!) and I don't think we can get the part" to another Angie's List electrician who says "we can have the part in 2 days and work you in in about a week". EMS' focus seems to (appears to me to be) on other larger projects that are cash cows like roofing and remodeling. Look out and look elsewhere.
Response from EMS General Contractors LLC
"[Member Name Removed], As explained to you prior, this stemmed from a misunderstanding. The $225 charged was not for the free estimate. It was for the labor, diagnostic, and temporary repair of the light. The invoice you signed confirms this acknowledgement. It was also explained to you that the pricing of $225 factors in employee compensation, general material depreciation, gas/mileage, liability insurance, and would be applied to any additional work done. It was also explained that the fix would be temporary and that a new transformer would be necessary in order to maintain functionality. We verbally provided you an estimate and upon request, and we also sent you a detailed one via email. A screenshot of the email sent out was sent to you to confirm this. For added transparency, we also forwarded you an email from the parts manufacturer with their quote to us. We do not cherry pick jobs, we are honored to work in every home we are invited in to. To try to compensate to you we have given you a refund on the work paid for up to date (still pending but should reach you within two weeks) and an additional 10% off any future work should you give us the opportunity to make it up to you. However, because we are a small family run company, there are some projects we cannot compete on price wise simply because larger firms have bette wholesale deals on parts. It is unfortunate that we were unable to meet your expectations but, as always, should you have any additional questions concerns feel free to reach out to us and we will be happy to assist you in any future needs you may have. Best Regards, EMS Family"

The job was done in a very timely manner and all permits and inspection done to code, the drywall was replaced and not even noticeable that they made holes. We will be hiring them for any future repairs we may incur. Thank you for a great job.

EMS provided the lowest bid. Lights were installed with dimmer switches and fan was stabilized. Crew cleaned up afterwards. They were polite and efficient. Everything works perfectly. Some notes on dealing with contractors: Avoid the big name companies with the flashy ads. Their overhead is high and their estimators and technicians are on quotas to deliver large revenue each month. Their technicians are overworked, underpaid, demoralized and relatively inexperienced -- skilled technicians would demand higher pay. They love to come into your house, look around and say you need to "upgrade" this and that, costing extra thousands of dollars. EMS didn't do that. They are a small operation and only estimate what I ask for. One big name estimator said they would have to break up the drywall to install the light switch and I would have to refinish it myself. Really?? That is a sign of either incompetence or laziness. EMS professionally installed the switch without damaging the drywall. Affluent Fairfax county is full of people with too much money and too little time so they just throw their money at any contractor to get the problem solved quickly. Contractors know that and take advantage of it with inflated estimates. It took me a little time to get many estimates and cut through the con artists. But I got a good job at low cost. That's the way Capitalism is supposed to work. You work hard for your money, don't waste it. I highly recommend EMS and will use them for any future projects.

Edwin and his crew installed a 10 space manual transfer switch and a 30 Amp outlet outside my house to facilitate powering specific circuits via my portable generator in the event of a power outage. I'm more than satisfied with the work. He was on time, clean, professional, and explained thoroughly everything that needed to get done to safely utilize my generator during an outage and power the essentials. The system is simple to use, all walls were properly repaired and more importantly, safe to operate. I highly recommend his services and will use him again for future projects.

Fantastic! I can't complain. It was a big job as they had to bring in water lines, marble countertops, tiling etc. I have used them for many projects dating back to 2012. The first project was a shed that they built which was a small replica of my house in the backyard. They leveled the ground and ran electrical to it and it also looks great! They've installed a doorbell camera and a whole house surge protector. They are great and they always clean up after themselves before they go.
