Certified Chimney & Masonry Services, Inc. was established in 2012. However, we are not new to the industry. For the last two years, we have worked for Mitchel's Chimney & Masonry Specialists, Inc. before deciding to open up our own service company. Te'on Dixon our lead technician, is also one of the owners of Certified Chimney. & Masonry Services, Inc. and prides himself on giving professional and excellent customer service, along with valuable information regarding the services he is providing.

They guys that showed up to do the work were awesome however, scheduling was a real pain. Every time we had to re-schedule we had to wait an additional 3 to 6 weeks so it took a long for them to come out to do the work. They were very punctual on letting me know. They told me I needed to have an additional $950 worth work done to fix my chimney but they provided no pictures and just sent me the quote in an email. I thought that was odd.

They didn't show when expected and didn't return calls that day, but apparently there had been an emergency with the technician and the backup was on leave.  The following day, they called, were very apologetic and more than made up for it the very next day!  Would definitely use them again.

They had to reschedule the appointment twice. The last occasion, they were were supposed to show between 9 and 11 am. I specifically asked that they arrive closer to 9 due to our work schdule. They did not arrive with that time window, and they did not call to let us know they were not going to be able to make it on time. We live about 45 minutes from Woodbridge,so I recommend that you choose another company closer to your home. Certified Chimney and Masonary Services Inc. apparently has a scheduling problem, or has a problem providing services outsie thier immediate area. Don't waste your time.

"Thank you for your feedback. Although we always try to accommodate our customers, scheduling is done in block scheduling for the day. Some appointments take less/more time than others and therefore we can not specifically guarantee specific times upon scheduling. The technicians will call prior to arrival or if they are running behind, if this did not happen in your case, I do apologize."

Heather gave me a time period in which they would arrive, which they did, and although it was raining, still cleaned both the fireplace chimney and dryer vent without a complaint, although they were soaked by the time they were through.  The dryer vent had never been cleaned before to my knowledge and had a lot of stuff in there, but they cleaned all the lint up afterwards.  Would recommend to anyone looking for professional services at a good price!

I have used Mitchel's Chimney & Masonry Specialists, Inc. for many years.  Mitchel's had excellent service and technicians who  knew what they were doing.  Since the company was bought a year ago, I was very pleased to learn that Heather Davis is still the office manager and Te'on Dixon is not only the lead technician but also a partner in the new company.  They do a great job in telling you what they plan to look at in your chimney inside and on your roof.  They are very professional and do an excellent job.  I would highly recommend this company and I will continue to use their good services.

"I was advised by Angie's List, my account rep to post a response to this review. First, and foremost, I was shocked to see Angie's List would allow such a review. The comment, "the man and woman arrived, looking straight off the corner of 7-11, in a white van with a ladder on it and the man, with dreadlocks, T-shirt, shorts and sneakers, not what i would have expected from a professional company", is a racially profiling comment. We are a service company, who cleans chimneys all day, not an accounting firm, who would show up with a suit and tie on. The style of someones hair does not determine the quality of work and expertise they possess. Us as a company, does not discriminate when hiring our employees. Not to mention, the technician that showed up to [member name removed] home, is one of the owners of the company. When [member name removed] purchased her Big Deal on Angie's List, she indeed called the office to schedule, only to receive our answering machine, due to issues when had with our telephone company, she at that point, emailed us. I responded promptly to her email, letting her know that the service company was at the office, working on our phones and as soon as they were finished, I would give her a call. Unfortunately, they were unable to fix the problem that day and would need to return. When [member name removed], contacted me again via email, I set up a date with her, in which she never asked for a call the day before to confirm service. Our company calls 30 mins in advance, when the technician is on their way, in which we did. When we arrived at her home, her husband advised us that that dryer vent was on the side of the home. When we accessed the vent, we found a huge bees nest inside the vent, the technician had to remove the nest before he could gain access to the vent, in which he did. At that point, [member name removed]returned home. I asked her if they were having issues with their dryer, due to the fact there was no air blowing out of their vent. She replied with, "no, but our clothes stink after they are dry and we have not had our vent cleaned in the 4 years we have lived here". It was at that point, [member name removed], said "I don't think that's the vent", let me call our neighbor who's laundry room is on the second floor, in which she did. It was confirmed that their dryer vent was on the roof. The technician proceeded to try access the roof to clean the vent. Unfortunately, the roof pitch was to steep. We explained to [member name removed], that we would need to have another technician, who has the proper safety equipment to perform the cleaning, due to the roof pitch. I contacted [member name removed] via email, to let her know that there was an additional fee for rooftop cleanings, due to the extra safety precautions and safety equipment, that needed to be used and if she did not want to endure the extra expense that Angie's List would be more than willing to refund her money. I would assume, she did not like my response. Therefore, she proceeded to send me nasty emails, threatening she would ruin our name on Angie's List. Our company strives to maintain a professional, high standard of customer service and will not cut corners to destroy our integrity."

It was easy to make an appointment.  They came to look at my dryer vent and they said that it was completely clean and I didn’t need the service.

The service was fine. They did take a while to get it scheduled and it was a little confusing as during this time they switched company names. The actual service did turn out well. They did not call to notify that the original company had been dissolved.

The techinican arrived at my home and introduced himself, and explained what he was going to be doing. He went back to the van to get the equipment and started the chimney sweep. The service took about 1 hour to complete and he aslo did a full inspection of the chimney. He was very tidy while he worked. After he was done he cleaned up and left. I will continue to use them as my service company.
