Bekins Moving Solutions

ZERO STARS-DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS ORGANIZATION. Our cross country move from Alexandria, VA which involved 9 month storage by Bekins Moving Solutions resulted in many broken items and a missing family heirloom desk. We were told in an email that the desk had "been received and secured safely" in their warehouse, but when the desk did not show up in Spokane WA, Russell Morris, Sales Manager and Louis Wesley, General Manager, took no responsibility. We had to file a police report in order to get paid over $3000 under our homeowners insurance, but it will never make up for this precious family heirloom being gone. The claims representative, Laura Speroni, was callous and uncaring and looked for ways to deny any payment vs a way to find coverage since Bekins Moving Solutions obviously FAILED to enter our antique into our inventory. (I happen to be an insurance agent and found her lack of professionalism jarring; she actually laughed and mocked our situation.) We have made many long distance moves and this was the worst experience ever. Most Sincerely, Bryan Smith and Kacie Greenwood

They damaged three of my items. It took a while for them to send me a claim form. No one has responded to me or the attorney that I hired. The workers were good, however, I do not know what took place in the storage and the warehouse to damage my items and no one seems to want to address those issues.

If I could give a negative to this company I would. I've moved 13 times over the last twenty years, both interstate and cross-country and I have NEVER had such a bad experience.
My grandmother passed and my mother (who was taking care of her) needed to relocate to a new home about 40 miles away. We have a lot of family pieces that we have had for over a hundred years.
I spoke with the salesman who was lovely to work with and he appreciated that I have a background in museums handling and packing precious objects. The job was too big for me to do alone. Because of the items we had he was a bit concerned about the job (Which should have concerned me there that he would question the quality of his own company), and asked the certain things they pack such as art and sculptures.
The woman they got to pack the art was lovely and very professional (She did not work for Bekins but was contracted). The Bekins people who came to pack were horrible and unprofessional and incompetent. They rushed in warped speed, packed fragile 19th-century plaster sculptures in with CONCRETE statues, broke items and hid the pieces, lost the hardware. I ended up having to redo their work.
I spoke with the Bekins higher ups and they ended up asking me to do a lot of work because of my background, and then they asked me to move the china and crystal myself a week before the move!
On the moving day the crew showed up. I had moved all the boxes into the garage so they could be easily moved into the truck, despite this they were very unprofessional complaining that I had 'too much stuff' there are many horrible stories but basically there is not one box that did not have something damaged or destroyed in it from the not only dropping boxes but throwing them. Over half of the furniture was badly damaged in transport.And some boxes were even lost
I put in a claim which was over $4500 in damages to repair and after months of little response they paid only $500 and said they were not responsible and basically called us liars that we were claiming damage that already existed! And that for the boxes we packed they even said we must have broken the pieces and packed them (Despite the fact that the boxes were crushed). 
I would not suggest this company to move a dog house 10 feet. Beware if you care about your belongings and family history.

We have always had excellent experiences with them

Our experience was great!  They were careful about explaining everything to us and answering all of our questions and concerns along the way.  It was an emotional journey, as most moves are, and they were very understanding.  The estimator gave us a good idea of what the cost would be and gave us some tips on how to do things ourselves to reduce the cost if we choose to go that way.  The packers and the movers were very polite and professional and flexible as we changed our minds about what was to be packed and what was to be moved.  It also helped that the local office in Washington was familar with the assisted living facility where my parents were going.  Overall they were excellent about answering any questions or concerns we had and with taking care of our belongings and feelings.

They actually came out and went through the entire house before we moved so that they could provide an estimate.  They are very thorough and happy to show proof that they are licensed and bonded.  They have several different insurance options.  They were there when they said they would be and were very careful with our belongings.  They put our plasma TV in special custom-made packaging to make sure that it wasn’t damaged.  I would definitely recommend them to others.

They helped us move out of our house in Virginia Beach and helped us in storage for a few months until we moved down to West Palms. It was in between the end of January 2011, and then they delivered our stuff at the end of March 2011. They were very professional. They did what they promised us. They didn’t lose or damage our furniture, and the estimate they gave us at the beginning was what we paid. They were very honest, and they handled our stuff with a lot of care. Some things were damaged, but we were reimbursed for the damages. Considering the distance of the move, they were wonderful. They were here at the exact time they said they would be to deliver our furniture. It was a big move. We had about 14,000 to 15,000 lbs of stuff. I was very happy with my decision. We paid storage fees for a couple of months which added to the price.

Overall, I suggest trying  different company. The nice people I worked with didn't balance out the lack of professionalism.
