Jerry appears to be very knowledgeable about HVAC which I appreciated from the beginning. He's a fast talker, and likes to describe all the technical details about a HVAC system. When I'd ask particular questions, he responded rather condescendingly; I brushed it off since I figured he just knew a lot. His professionalism lacked on several occasions. For over 6 months, we were hearing a low, but annoying whistle coming through our system. It would come and go, making it hard to diagnose. I asked him to come check it out after it happened rather regularly. He agreed to come, but tersely explained on the phone that he wouldn't be able to do anything if he didn't hear it. He came while I was at work, and my teenage son was home. After staying for a little while, and the noise didn't happen, my son told me later that Jerry said "you know how women are--she's probably making it up." My son assured him that the noise happened. But in less than a polite way, Jerry called me on my cell phone, and in annoyance, said unless I wanted to pay him half day service fee, he couldn't stay any longer. The next time he came for a check-up, he began telling me that several big items needed replacement, including the furnace fan motor. He showed me how it had been installed incorrectly, and how hard it would be to get out and replace. Funny thing is--he was the one who originally installed it! That same day, he drove to my basement door, on my lawn. I asked him nicely to stay in the driveway, so as not to hurt the lawn. He spat "I've been coming to this house for years, and I always park here. And besides my truck isn't hurting anything." (I bought the house 3 yrs ago).... The next time I called to arrange a spring tune up and preparation for the summer, and we were checking schedules (I commute to the DC area and am limited in my time at home during the week days), he came up with a day within the next 2 weeks. We hung up, and within 10 mins., he called back, and in a very blunt way, said that I was going to have to find a new technician for my system; he was not going come back. Glad to be rid of Jerry, his attitude, and his questionable capabilities.
