A nightmare with which many of us are familiar is to have your car break down when you're on the road. In the middle of a day trip from Washington DC to Williamsburg, VA, my battery warning light went on and my car's voltage started to drop. I limped my car to the shop at European Cars of Williamsburg with my battery nearly drained. The shop was closed for the weekend, so I contacted the staff through their website to find out if I could leave my car at the shop. No problem. I dropped off my key and wrote them a note explaining what had happened. I have never been to these guys before and I didn't know them from Adam! I did a quick search of reviews online and found a mix of negative and positive, but generally they were considered a trustworthy operation. The following Monday I got a call from the owner 'Gus.' He confirmed that it was the alternator and wanted to know when I needed the car. I told him there was no rush and that I would be back later in the week to pick it up. They started by recharging the battery and completing their diagnostics. After giving them the 'go ahead' they replaced the alternator, which, in my vehicle (A6, 2.7 turbo) can be extremely difficult to get at. They had it ready for me that same day. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to retrieve my car until the following Friday which wasn't a problem for them. They offered to hold it at their shop at no additional charge; a small detail for which I was very grateful. When we arrived at the shop my wife and I were greeted by the friendliest family you could ever meet. As a family business, European Cars, embodied the values of hospitality and service. When you contract with a auto repair shop, sight unseen, there's always some uncertainty and concern that the mechanic will take advantage of the situation and suggest a ton of other, usually unnecessary, repairs. There was none of that. Gus and Marina Fotiadis took good care of us and we were grateful for their professionalism and responsiveness. Their adult children are also taking part in the business - Chris a mechanic and Helen in administration. It's truly a wonderful operation; all in all a great experience!

They are always great. We have been to them countless times for everything from new timing belts, tires, brakes, inspections, etc and have always received great service, communication, and a fair deal. Plus: it feels so much better supporting a hard working family business instead of a dealership.
Do- take your car to them for service.
Do NOT- waste your money at the dealership.
