the carpet was pulled away from the wall. He proceeded to tell me that the carpet was improperly installed. The carpet is about 11yrs old and I have no idea if it was installed improperly or not. It went to the wall all the way around the room and didn't have any threads missing. The carpet had the buckle and it also had a coffee stain. What I didn't understand was why they kept working on it and not tell me when they discovered the "mistakes" of another company. The worker told me that they don't do buckles in the middle of the carpet and he was told the buckle was in front of the bathroom door jam. Again why start the job then, to this he had no answer. I asked him to leave and he went outside and called his boss, Pete Childs. The worker
then knocked on my door and handed me the bill. It was for $220.00, the price quoted to me was $120.00, but the young man explained that his boss told him to add another $100.00 because they were here so long. I was furious and just wrote check and told him to leave. I then went upstairs and walked across the room only to scrape my toe on a staple that was put in the buckle. It did not go all the way in. There also was 2 staples laying on the floor. When I semi calmed down (about a week later) I emailed Mr Childs and told him what I thought of the job. He came out the next morning to look at it. He said he did not know about it, that the employee took pictures of the other side of the room. He too said the carpet was installed improperly. He accepted full responsibility
and said he would replace the whole carpet asap. He said he would get back to me in a day or two. I told him I was going away in 5 days, but my husband would be home and he can work with him. After a month went by, I emailed him again and he said he didn't come cause I said I was going away. He also told me that he figured I was happy with the job, and that I didn't return the customer satisfaction survey..ps it was sent to the wrong address. He started to argue with me and I just asked for him to return my money with an extra $80.00, for a total of a $300.00 refund so maybe I could by my own carpet. He said fine. Time goes by again, and I get a call from the office worker telling me Mr Childs will be by on Monday to discuss my new wood floor ????? I told her to have him call me immediately and to his credit..he did. Long story short it was more of the same and he started raising his voice..but did agree to send me $300.00. He did want a chance to make this right, but I had, had it with him and told him no..I don't want to deal with him at all. Well the check did arrive in the mail, a good month later, (for $220) and he wrote " refund on stretching previously damaged carpet " and of course it went to the wrong address. I cashed it. This man also operates Williamsburg Oriental Rug Care along with Carpet Pro.
"This carpet was installed with a cut and rip on the edge of the room. We tried to repair the carpet which was glued together on the original install. We were not aware of the problem and we even state on the work order we cannot be responsible for pre-existing conditions or defects that are not appearant upon initial inspection. We had a period of three weeks in which we did not have any idea [Member Name Removed] was not pleased with the work. I never received a call until I received the email we had no idea. I did not raise my voice or have any ill words for [Member Name Removed]. I sympathize with [Member Name Removed]. I did try to do whatever was necessary and was often confused with what was expected to rectify her problem. We tried to communicate with her without a reply. Our company has stretched and repaired the equivalant of ten football fields of carpet with completely satisfactory results."
