I believe that this is the worst company I have ever dealt with.   Trouble began from day one, with an installation that was performed incorrectly and resulted in service issues.  A representative told me that the dish had been installed in the wrong location and then tried to charge me to correct their faulty work.  Another time when there was equipment trouble they again wanted to charge me to repair/replace, but I refused to pay because I was leasing the equipment from them.
I will say that most of the time, the internet connection was very good, with good speeds.  But when any issue came up with the equipment, satellite tracking, etc., it was very frustrating to me.  Calls were sometimes transferred multiple times,  often ending up with a non-native English speaker over a very bad connection.  Navigating the website and viewing my bills were additional sore points.
When I sold my house, I asked about cancelling service and (of course) had to pay to end the contract early (even though the new homeowner wanted to continue service).   The company rep I spoke with told me I had to return only the modem, but I later learned this was incorrect and was charged over $300 for failing to also return the radio (attached to the dish outside).

We live in the middle of nowhere, phone dsl is not an option.  Internet provided by the phone company is patchy.  We have enjoyed Hughesnet over all.  I don't like having limited data, and we run out often and have to buy extra.  But it works pretty good most of the time, weather permitting.
They have some odd times where the service is apparently being worked on.  The weather's fine, but it just won't work.  This usually 'fixes itself' within a half hour.  We haven't reported it because it's only once or twice a week, and i figure they're servicing something, so i haven't complained.

After initial set up Internet service/speed was just as advertised. Some minor issues due to weather, which were expected. The only issue has been activation of my eMail account with Outlook, which I have worked around. All said HughesNet.com is a very good choice for Internet service when cable is not available.

I wouldn't recommend them. I have a very small allowance of time and bandwidth per day on the internet. I can't download anything or I will have used up my allowance for that day. They are overpriced for poor service.  Obama promised us we'd all have good internet and it just isn't true! The service tech is at least 4 hours away.
