Overall, experience was okay. I've never hired movers before so I'm not exactly certain on what the usual process is. I spoke with a very courteous fella to discuss the details over the phone and he set me up with a crew of two guys that were very helpful. I think I would have appreciated a followup phone call to assure my experience was a good one but it was mid-summer so I'm sure they were a busy lot.

Generally went very well in all respects.  initial explanations thorough and later questions answered fully, though sometimes communications not immediate or accurate due to large number of individuals involved who seemed not to talk to each other, and mixups about phone number and e-mail to use. Final cost less than initial estimate and appropriate.  Packers spent whole day working hard but carefully, especially on large number of pictures, dishes, and memorabilia.  Approved without issue many boxes of breakables we carefully packed. Moving out crew arrived very early without callling ahead but adjusted.  A shuttle van was required, but team was very effective and organized to complete move out in one day.  Both out and in crews were professional in every way, though the English language skills of some were limited.  Driver Gilbert was particularly well-organized, pleasant, and communicative.  Moved in 3 days later than originally indicated, but 2 days earlier than later stated, causing some confusion. Moving in went fast and without incident with the crew following directions very well about where to put items.  No major damage or breakage occurred.  All items were ultimately accounted for; the crew was very responsive about finding a few boxes apparently missing among the 400+ involved.

I accepted estimates from three companies.  American was not the lowest estimate (not to exceed), but they assured me that American employees would pack and move my furniture.  Some companies are brokers, posting the job on a bulletin board for any company to bid.  All employees involved were professional and courteous, especially Joe, the driver.  I would use American again, although I hope this is our last move.  American helped with reducing our stress level by keeping us informed on all the steps along the way and completing a very successful move.  Well done, American!

moved house furniture and large workshop tools and equipment. They were on time arriving, went through the house with us to see what of the furniture was to be moved and what was not. We had them move some relatively expensive and some hand made furniture. they carefully wrapped each piece of wood furniture and stowed it away for transport. They loaded the truck, hauled it across the mountain and unloaded at our new home the same day. nothing was damaged that we could see. Tommy and his crew were professional, courteous, and helpful. Would recommend company to anyone.
