+ -1 moreMr. Ashburn had wanted to finish on Friday, but because evening thunderstorms were expected Friday through Sunday, he suggested he return with his crew on Monday morning. He was very respectful and said he would not come too early (I knew this would mean that he and his crew would suffer in the heat), but he said he did not want to have complaints from the neighbors. It was ideal for us. I also pointed out that I had a new leak after the wind and rain over the weekend. This one was related to the chimney and he said the pointing (the mortar in between the bricks) had blown out and so he repaired that. He and his crew also cleaned out my gutters and cleaned up their mess. All in all they were very professional and thorough. I know from experience with younger roofers who do quick and cheap fixes that they don't last. I feel like my money was well spent and I would recommend them anytime!!!! Their phone is 804-436-7288. It is Withers and Sons Contracting and it is locaated in Warsaw, Virginia, far from Richmond, but they are thorough, professional and knowledgeable. All in all a great experience!
Description of Work: Mr. William Ashburn and his crew came on Friday, June 3rd to inspect my house in the Fan area of Richmond, VA. My house is 105 years old and has a slate roof, three chimneys and a flat roof with a tar covering with alumuminum coating. I have had leaks and called several people to come over and fix the leaks. Mr. Ashburn climbed up on the roof and took pictures of the problem spots on the roof. He also asked about the lower roof area where I have a skylight (which has been leaking) and which another roofer told me needed to be completely replaced. Mr. Ashburn explained how the other person had fixed the problem, sort of, but there were cracks in it and thus in the tar covering. Moreover, he noticed that the flashing was loose in the front and the slate was falling off and the tarpaper underneath was buckling. With the tar covering, the repair of the slate and the skylight and a new aluminum coating we settled on $5250.
