Top Dog Professional Handyman Svcs
About us
Top Dog Professional Handyman Svcs is a division of Heiston kitchen and bath, which has been remodeling homes in the northern virginia area for nearly 20 years. Family owned and operated by Rod Heiston, Heiston kitchen and bath has earned itself a worthy reputation for outstanding, high-quality craftsmanship and exceptional customer service. Unlike large handyman franchises, top dog was created to bring this same level of expertise and professionalism to small and big jobs that don’t require the high level of planning and design of most Heiston remodeling projects. As a small business, they do not have large overhead costs for marketing and operations, thus, can pass on the savings directly to customers. And top dog does it all: install a ceiling fan, install a toilet, inspect a sump pump, fix a dry wall, detect and fix a leak, grout tiles, replace a faucet, install a new sink, replace your windows, fix a roof, repair a drywall, no job is too big or too small for topdogging! In efforts to offer simple and economical services, top dog makes rough estimates right over the phone for most projects. If the job is too large, a consultant will drive out to your home to discuss budgets and perform a free estimate. The fee is always the same, so you’ll never be surprised by a large bill. Top dog's price structure is the most economical in the area. Offering the lowest service charge, jobs are billed at an affordable, fixed hourly rate per man-hour. If you find a better offer, show us the proof and top dog will match it! Our jobs are usually represented by up to 2 technicians (representing up to 2 man-hours) so we can get the job done right and fast for your convenience. If your job only requires 1 technician to complete, we will be upfront and honest not charge you for the extra man hour. Additional DBAs - Heiston Construction Inc, Heiston Kitchen & Bath. I would absolutely recommend them.
"Thanks for reading and thank you so much for your support. We do our best to provide a trusting company that delivers high quality at a fair cost. After agreeing to all the terms and we were almost at completion, this guy made a offer that he would give us good ratings and post us on the HOA Board if we gave him a discount. His discount meant free. I,m happy to discounts but I dont work that way. Please dont misuse the system. People like this should not be in his position. Thank you Again Rod Heiston"
After calling a few companies and getting many quotes, I went with Top Dog Professional Handyman Services after talking to Rod Heiston, who?s the owner. I liked his matter of fact style and how he went through a couple of options and he wasn?t quick to recommend the most expensive fix.
I was impressed with the level of thought his crew members showed in trouble shooting where the cause of the problems was. I felt like they were looking at the problem with a home owners eyes and not just trying to find where they could pad the bill. They were methodical and went from the main drainage pipe all the way out to the water main. It turned out to stem from years of pouring grease and other nasty things down the drain. (Let this be a warning about pouring oil and other stuff down your pipes!)
So if you?re looking for an expert who can fix your plumbing, Rod Heiston and his team at Top Dog Professional Handyman Services will take care of anything you can throw at them.
We recently purchased a home in Fairfax County, Virginia. The home inspection did not reveal any significant structural issues; however, during one of the most significant summer storms of 2015, we suffered water damage. Our Google search identified Top Dog Professional Handyman Services as our best choice for water leak detection and repair. We immediately contacted Top Dog and spoke directly to the owner, Rod Heiston. In retrospect, I wish I had known about and leveraged Top Dog?s multi-master home inspection service to assess our home more thoroughly.
Rod?s company, Top Dog, does top-quality work. They quickly discovered the sources and extent of our water leak. In the process, they deliberately minimized demolition so the reconstruction would be as quick and cost-effective as possible. They also detected some mold and performed mold remediation. They employed their own expertise in carpentry, roofing, siding, insulation, drywall, flooring, and painting to waterproof and repair our home. Like a dog on a bone, they stayed with the project until its completion. Their repairs have withstood the test of several subsequent storms.
Top Dog communicates well. During the process, they clarified the terms, including cost for labor and material, on a daily basis. They responded quickly to calls, texts, and e-mails and patiently explained plans and processes in a manner that even a non-expert could understand. They also advocated with a third-party adjuster and our insurance company on our behalf.
Top Dog pays meticulous attention to detail. Throughout the process of demolition and reconstruction, they carefully protected our home and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves.
constantly flushing and to resolve the problem the toilet was rebuilt. The problem
continued and we had a second rebuild on July 19, 2012. We did not call earlier because
we were dealing with a family emergency. So we could not attend to the the leaky toilet.
Unfortunately, we are dissatisfied with the services rendered because the problem
persists. We are disappointed the toilet does not work properly. We paid a total of $323 and we still
have a broken toilet. I was told that I had to be billed the work hours because
the problem with the toilet was not the workmanship, however I feel like this
is an inadequate response. If the problem were diagnosed correctly we would not
have to have a second call. We had a toilet rebuilt and we paid for the parts
and labor then the diagnosis should have been accurate. I feel like we should
not have to keep paying to diagnose by trial and error. The responsibility for
correctly diagnosing the problem should fall the professional. Additionally the customer service was
rude and inadequate. Finally, we used a kit from Home Depot and fixed ourselves and that only cost us $20.
Plumber/Technician arrived 2 hours after the 1-3pm appointment; stated he was unaware of the scheduled time. Installed the garbage disposal in a reasonable time. Turned the disposal on demonstrating its functioning and noise level. However he did not test with dish washer interface. Subsequent uses of the dish washer caused an excessive amount of water through the overflow drain rather than through the garbage disposal drain. The excessive overflow could not be captured in the sink causing water to flow onto the kitchen counter.
Assuming the disposal was properly installed by the Top Dog handyman, I discussed drainage issue with the hardware associate where I purchased the unit. He advised that a novice mistake is failure to remove a drain plug from the garbage disposal prior to installation.
I had my regular plumbing service troubleshot the problem. He felt inside the disposal and said a drain plug is still in the unit. The disposal had to be uninstalled to remove the plug and reinstalled. The plumber started the dish washer, let water fill for a minute, then pressed the cancel/drain button to demonstrate the overflow remedy. The rework nullified any savings from the Angie List sale/discount.
