COLVIN FLOORS INC

Colvin was recommended by another carpet dealer as they had a good selection of quality remnant carpets. We needed a circular carpet to put down in our family room which had new hardwood flooring installed. They had a high quality 12 foot remnant which we needed cut and bound into a round, 11 foot diameter carpet with a thick under pad. They were very friendly and knowledgeable and were able to complete and provide the carpet in 3 days.

Shane Colvin came out, took measurements and invited us by the showroom to look at flooring samples for our project.  He was very friendly and knowledgeable.  He talked to us about different types of carpet, hardwood, and vinyl.  He offered us less expensive products than one product we'd expressed interest in early on.



The install was done over the course of three appointments, due to when the products came in.  My Colvin personally delivered our hardwoods to allow them to acclimate to the conditions in our house.

The installation folks were friendly and efficient, in and out, with what appears to be high quality work.

My only real gripe with this is how the hardwood floor in our bedroom has held up.  We have been able to put some pretty decent scratches and gouges in it, just by moving 2 pieces of furniture.  One of the considerations we talked about with Mr. Colvin was that we needed something pretty durable as we're not the most cautious, careful people when it comes to flooring.  I wish he'd advised us of a harder flooring material.

The initial meeting and planning of the service went well.   They completed the job within the time frame given.  They didn't not exceed the price quoted. But, after the install was complete, we noticed a give in the floor or a soft spot, when it is stepped on.   I called Colvin Floors and they sent the installer to look at it.  The installer arrived at my house as scheduled.   He said that he didn't see a problem.   That it was the subfloor and that he couldn't do anything about it and he would talk to his boss,  he left.  I called the next day  and spoke with the owner.   I relayed to him , what the installed told me.  I explained again, the problem.   He said he had never heard of anything like that happening.  I asked him to come look at the floor himself.   We scheduled a time, he never showed. I called the store several times and left several messages.  I never received any call back from anyone at the company.    Note:  In the meantime,  I have had  other floor installers look at the problem.  It is not the sub floor.  It is the poor installation of the product, the flooring was installed to tight to the wall, not allowing for product to give during any temperature change.   You would think Colvin floors would know this also, and fix the problem .  Lesson learned.  Shame on a company that will not make good on their installation of the product they sold and also recommended.

About six months ago we noticed the carpet they installed in April of 2011 was buckling and coming undone where the carpet meets the hardwood in our foyer. They also left a bare spot (no carpet or padding) in our family room and the carpet does not meet up around our fireplace. He actually walked off our job after I asked him to make the necessary repairs. We then called them back to fix the shoddy workmanship and they got very nasty and said they have never had a complaint before.
