I took proposals from five companies. The final three were going to do the same work using the same material and provided the same guarantee. The difference came down to experience, reputation, and cost. I chose Skye-Brynn Enterprises to replace the house roof and rebuild the patio roof. They arrived when promised, took care to protect the property, and worked together very efficiently. I could see the crew had worked together for a long time as they flowed through the work with little extra discussion and few, if any, delays. The crew was as quiet as could be expected, respectful, and cleaned up after themselves. The new shingles are very attractive, no water comes into the house, and only one very minor correction is needed. I recommend Glen and the Skye-Brynn team when you need a new roof, or even repairs.

We got off to a good start with agreement on price and a signed contract. After that things went downhill. The first day we planned to stay home and coordinate the start of the job.  Someone showed up and worked for an hour or so, left and said they'd be back by 12:30. No show. No call. We called and we were told they would not be back until the next day. Total waste of a day off from work. Called the owner and asked for better communication. He was defensive and said they don't work that way...they just need access to the house so they can come/go as they please. I provided a garage door code and asked to at least be informed what days and approximate times they would be there.  The owner never corresponded after that; left it up to his supervisor who was good about it some days, but wouldn't show up on some occasions when he said he'd be there.  Really poor communication over the 2 weeks that the job was being done.
One day I came home to find the plaster work had been done.  I called and said the progress was good but there was a rough spot in the plaster where 1 door had been...fairly large area that didn't match existing texture of surrounding wall.  I found out later he had inspected, declared that it was a complete botch job, then proceeded to fire the sub-contractor telling them that I had said it was the worst mess I'd ever seen or something to that affect.  That plasterer came to my house that night and asked if they could see how bad it really was. We compared stories and realized the story I had told was not the one they heard. They felt it was a simple thing to correct. In the end they were not asked to return and another contractor completed the plaster work.
When painting started we picked a color, they bought the paint and started painting. After it dried it looked pink. So we told them we'd buy another gallon at our expense if they'd complete the painting with the new color; agreed.  Later the owner tried to charge me for the gallon of paint that I purchased on my dime.
Final day and we're both in a hurry to get things complete...I didn't want to spend any more face time than I had to. Big mistake. The next day we ran the shower and it backed up.  Called the supervisor who came out, tried a manual snake, didn't work, and then told us he would need a power snake. After that he strung us along saying he'd be there the next day only he never returned. Called the owner who claimed it wasn't his problem the drain didn't work; they had stuffed the pipe with a rag during construction.  I said the job wasn't complete and did he want to leave the job without it being done. He said his job was done, but if it makes me feel better (laying on the guilt trip) he'd hire a plumber at his own expense to clean the drain.  He said he or his supervisor would call me back.  They never did. One final text message to inquire about it and all we got was a text message saying they decided they didn't cause the problem so they weren't going to fix it.

We called Skye-Brynn after a recommendation by a friend who had his roof replaced by them and liked the job they did.  Glen came out and met with us to discuss the products and process and give us a fair quote.  We paid one third down and the rest upon completion.  We made our appointment and were contacted two days before they planned to come out.  Glen, his son, Dustin, and the whole crew promptly arrived at 7 a.m.  They were professional and diligent in their work and worked well as a team.  Everyone was polite and friendly and did an outstanding job.  Since we also had ridge vents cut and a skylight replaced, they came out for part of the next day, again, getting right back to work at 7 a.m.  They were exceptional about cleaning up and we haven?t found any nails in our driveway and only a few on our back deck.  The job was completed on schedule and on budget.  Our new roof looks great and we now feel we have some peace of mind.  We would definitely recommend Skye-Brynn Enterprises to others.

The job was completed on schedule and on budget.  When they left the yard was cleaned up to perfection.  I will call them first for any construction work I need.

The installation process went great.  The men showed up on time and were friendly. My decision to go with this company was based on great reviews, where on multiple occasions it was mentioned they were ethical and reliable (and the fact Glen was a God fearing family man, very personable, friendly, down to earth and professional when he came to visit put the icing on my choice).

Although I had an issue and "fell between the cracks" I am very relieved and thankful it will be taken care of.  I am very big on doing the right thing.

It went well.  Glen was prompt in giving me an estimate, coming by the same day I called.  The price was reasonable, they came by exactly when they said they would, got it done in about an hour, cleaned up their mess, measured another vent for future replacement.  They didn't try to sell me a new roof, said mine looked great.  They caulked all the exposed nail heads, removed the damaged ridge vent, cap and shingles, installed a new cobra ridge vent, cap and shingles, and they have guaranteed their work for a year.  I would ask them back for future repair work.  They are a class A contractor and do more than roof repairs.

******UPDATE*******

Right after Hurricane Sandy blew through I had a slight leak, just enough to stain the ceiling about 8" in diameter.  I thought it might have had something to do with the ridge vent I installed.  I called them, and Dustin came out the next afternoon to check on it.  It wasn't the ridge vent, just a nail nearby that had popped up and out during the storm and allowed a bit of water to seep in.  Dustin removed it, caulked the hole and didn't charge me for the visit.  As I write this I'm thinking he should have pounded in another nail....oh well we'll see how it goes after this nor'easter comes through.

Syke-Brynee showed up early in the a.m. as promised and quickly were up on my roof, pulled our my dead attic fan and replaced it with a new one I had purchased at Lowe's.  The work went quickly with no problems.  I had disconnected the old fan electrically myself and completed wiring in the new one after Skye-Brynne had finished with their installation.
I paid their "minimum service charge" which was $150.  Seems a bit high for the 20 minutes they were here, but certainly not excessive -  and it beat the $250. required by one of their competitors (highly rated on Angie's List) who I had used recently for some other roof repair work.

Glen came out, provided an cost estimate.Returned the next morning and completed the repairs. He patiently worked with my wife's fears of mismatched shingles. You can not tell the colors are slightly different.
