Mason's Tree Service

It turned out okay. We had some trees that we're concerned about if they needed to be trimmed or not because of the location. We had a really hard time to coordinate our time. When he was finally able to get out here, the tree we're most concerned about was still healthy and we really didn't need anything. They could have communicated better.

I recently had the pleasure of doing business with Mason Tree Service.
The Management was clear and informative regarding the work proposad.
They were responsive to my calls and concise in their biddining proposal.
When the crew arrived at my home they introduced themselves politely.
In addition to their names, they each shared their role on the team for the day.
THe tree to be removed was a large old oak, precariously situated between two houses.
They took the utmost care and respect for the integrity of the property.
The service was great.  I would recommend them to anyone in need of tree service.

I would like to prevent/help any other Angie's List member by keeping this company out of the book forever!  I paid for an aborist's expertise with Mr. Mason claimed he was, instead I was left to supervise his crew, because he had a previous engagement??  He did not have needed equipment the whole experience was and expensive nightmare! As for the $1.25 he stated that he wrote off, that amount does not cover the cost of the garden light that a crew member broke with a limb failing on it.  Value $25.00 made by Westinghouse.

Our neighbor informed us of a bagworm infestation on our evergreen bushes, which had gone unnoticed by us, and severely damaged several bushes.  We called around to several companies, but none were able to get to our property quickly.  George was at our home within 1.5 hours of our initial phone call, and got the job done very quickly, despite having an unexpected family matter to attend to.  We were very pleased with his service and will be using his company again in the future.

Very good.  More than I could afford at the time, but will probably use at some point.

George arrived promptly for the estimate gave a reasonable bid.  I went and checked several other tree services and had some ridiculous bids for the same work, and two companies never returned my calls.  I had three bids, Mason's was the best price.  On the day of service a crew of three men arrived early in the morning and performed all work that I had requested.  The workers were very polite and professional.  Every aspect that I was concerned with was performed and the cleanup was very good. George came by towards the end of the job and told me to make sure the clean up was to my satisfaction.  The crew did an excellent job on cleanup and they spent extra time to clean off the cars and the neighbors driveways and the entire cul de sac. a It was a pleasure doing business with this company and I highly recommend them.  They had the best price and the work was exceptional.  I will use them again for all tree work that I need.

They were professional and well-trained.  Mr. Mason stopped by frequently to check on the work.  The work was done with great care and clean-up was also well done.

All went smoothly and no trouble.

It worked out OK overall. Our top priority on the work order we submitted ahead of time to Mr. Mason was to have a large tree limb removed from a gumball tree in the backyard; however, when Mr. Mason and his large crew of workmen arrived, he did not have a tree climber in the group, and asked us to reschedule that portion of the work. Mr. Mason and his crew did the rest of the work just fine, pruning many different smaller trees in the front and back yards. We were disappointed that Mr. Mason did not return to remove the tree limb, however, this is partly our fault for not pestering him until he sent a tree climber out, but it is also partly his responsibility to make sure the work that we ordered was finished. The work that was done was done with care and attention and we appreciate that.

While trimming the trees they damaged my property and covered it up. George will not return my phone calls or emails.

MOST ivy and poison ivy killed. 
George verbally guaranteed that he would return, when and if called, to hit any stray or remaining ivy with poison.  He did not respond to my call when some poison ivy returned within a month.
 
George refused to put estimates in writing.  When work was complete the price changed.

Communication seemed to be a bit of a problem. It took about a week to hear anything back after my initial phone call requesting an estimate. Once they came over and gave me their price, I accepted the same day and they were back early the next morning as promised. They did an amazing job. They actually did much more than I thought would be done. The clean up was really great too. They do an exceptional work, but one of the things that was supposed to happen was sealing a limb on one of the trees that got trimmed. It is sick and we were trying to save it or prolong it's life. I called a couple days later to ask if he would be back to do that, and was told he would be back by in a day or two. I also had a question I wanted to ask about some carpenter ants one of the tree cutters said were nesting in the tree. I tried calling again about a week or so later and was told they would call me back in about 15 minutes. Nobody called. I would still recommend their services because they do a great job, just a little hard to track down.

Explained what I needed to the owner/manager.  His crewed remained through much of the day and the job was done.

I had two trees that needed work.  The first was on the easement and was dead or dying, the second is a large oak which needed shaping for hurricane season.  Mr. Mason very kindly informed me the tree on the easement would be removed by the city for free.  I truly appreciated his honesty.  His team did a great job shaping the giant oak to make it less vulnerable to toppling during a hurricane.  He also, trimmed a couple of large evergreens to get the limbs off the cable wire.  Very personable, prompt, friendly and professional.  I will be using him again in the near future!

They are absolutely awesome, fast professional, and willing to work through any situation.  We called them back to state that the clean up could have been done better and they immediately came back and resolved it to our satisfaction.  I will definitely be using them again for all our rental properties.

Overall, it went well!!

I called Mason Tree Service.  I received a return phone call quickly and they were ready to come to our house that evening!  I never expected such prompt service and didn't plan for it so we scheduled for another day. George answered all my questions and gave me sound advice concerning the tree in question.  He also gave me advice on other trees in our yard. He spent a good amount of time giving advice and didn't charge me a dime.  He will get my business when I'm ready to have trees removed, planted or pruned.  How nice to find a company who cares not only about their business but realizes that good customer relations begin with good conversation.  Mason Tree Service is the way to go should you need advice or work done.

I had no way to judge if it was fairly priced but I had someone else out for an estimate and Mason's was cheaper. I would recommend them because I think they did a fabulous job. They completed their work in a few hours and they cleaned up after themselves. The only issue was that they were delayed a few days because they had machinery break down.

The first portion of the crew arrived and set up to climb the tree. They surveyed the area and identified the issues that would have to be addressed in removal; specifically two fences, our neighbor's house, our house, and deck. They identified their plan of attack and started setting up.
When the climber was getting ready to start work, Mr. Mason and the remainder of his crew arrived and made preparations for the removal of the tree and stump. They took down a fence that would have hindered their progress. They took care to retain the hardware from the fence. During removal of the tree the workers removed from the fall area items in our yard - bird feeders and a bird bath.
During the removal the climber was methodical but safe during his time in the tree.
They thoroughly ground down the stump and gathered all the burnable wood for future use.
Before the left they reinstalled the fence after ascertaining that I would not be removing the wood from the yard.

In addition, Mr. Mason was conscientious in setting his crew and equipment up. He could have placed one of his vehicles in my yard to potentially assist in removal of the tree but was hesitant because he was afraid to damage the damp lawn. Once I told him he could proceed he was conscientious to do as little damage as he had to.

George came out last week to give us an estimate on tree removal.  He was very courteous, friendly, and professional, throughout all of our dealings with him.   We were interested in getting three very large trees removed from various areas of our lawn, fearing that at least one of them had been hollowed out by ants and was a hazard during storms.   George looked at all the trees, and gave an estimate for all, one or two, and finally, for the removal of a very large pine that was choking out our flowering tree in the front yard.  He was very honest and told us that he would test the large tree with the ant problem and that, if it was not too far gone, we could save the tree and treat it.  He also offered us options on the other tree, that would allow us to both save money and potentially keep the tree.  So, we decided to go ahead with the removal of the pine tree and await the test results on the other trees.  George and his crew arrived this morning and very quickly cut down the pine tree in the front yard.  They will return to do the stump grinding, after the holiday.   Again, he and his crew were very friendly, polite, and courteous, the entire time that they were here.  They removed the tree down to the ground and also removed all debris.  He also sells firewood and we ordered a cord of wood to be delivered.  We will be having him back out, to prune the large trees in the back yard.

Overall, a very good experience with an honest company.

Very well.  Everyone I talked to and met was pleasant and courteous.   I wasn't home when worked was performed but work done was very well done.

George Mason cut the dead branches from the two trees since the trees were still alive. If the city inspector was not satisfied with cutting of the dead branches from the two trees, George would come back and cut them down for free.  The city inspector was not satisfied with cutting only the dead branches and was told I needed to cut down the two trees. George came back after a month and cut down the two trees.

Went great, called, he called back the next day. Came by gave me estimate, and made appt the next  2 weeks from estimate. Came that morning of the 27th of Sept. 2011. Done by early afternoon.
