Dave Kendall is a highly skilled professional carpenter with over 30 years of experience.  He responded promptly to my request for an estimate and took the time to come over and assess the job properly before quoting a price.  His level of skill is evident in the work he does and the care he takes in making sure the job gets done right. The joints in the crown molding are so tight and well fit that you can't see any gaps at all in the joints. Dave performed all of the work himself and did not use any subs.  I can recommend Kendall Construction without reservation for any carpentry work.  I will be calling Dave again to do more work in my home in the future.

I found Dave on Angie's List back in the early winter but he had prior obligations and was not able to get to my task till a later time. We set up a time for him to start once some of the current things he had going on finished out. He was a very patient and understanding man as I had a few suggestions that he stayed open to and tried the only to find out my idea was not the best one. I decided to leave everything up to him and I was totally impressed by his work. He is definitely a professional. I contacted Dave based on the comment previous to mind and they are so correct. Dave is very much like an artist when it comes to his work. He is very precise and has excellent craftsmanship. I highly recommend his services to anyone needing wood working done.

Dave Kendall is much more of a wood artist than a carpenter. As we got to know him, we understood that he was more concerned about a perfect job - one he could be completely proud of - than getting done quickly. Our job was small for him, so he came on weekends. Since we were home remodeling other areas, this worked for us. Dave is a devoted family man and a terrific, caring, interested person. We selected a Cherry wood stair rail, with 6 curved fittings that, when assembled, would provide a continuous rail down our stairs, and surrounding a bottom landing. It was clear to me that this installation would definitely not be within my DIY talents . Curved fitting angles had to be cut exactly and fittings internally bolted to each of the rail pieces. Dave assured us that this was no problem for him. The work on the rail progressed over several days. Dave always discussed each step with us, being carefully to be sure that his artful choices were exactly what we wanted. He was also careful to explain that fittings would be bolted to the rails, not nailed and glued, as many carpenters do today. The bolt process makes for a very solid assembly, but takes much longer. Once the fittings were assembled, the railing was carefully sanded and scraped to provide the appearance of a perfect continuous curving rail. Dave then matched the stain to our new Cherry wood kitchen cabinets and completed the job with a satin varnish. I have attached photos of this wonderful work below. As we got to know Dave Kendall, we began to understand his more normal jobs, which include free-standing custom stair cases, custom cabinetry and high-end large-format custom trim. The photos he showed us were amazing. I mentioned to Dave that he was hard to find and asked why he didn't have a web site or more publicity. Apparently, in the past, he has always been full due to word-of-mouth advertising, and only recently has needed new customers because of the building market recession. If you can get Dave Kendall to help you now with carpentry needs - even decking, don't miss this opportunity! You'll have to wait a bit though. Dave is coming back in a couple of weeks to do the crown molding in our new kitchen!
