HD Watson Builders

From the very beginning I pointed out things being completed that didn't make sense.  A project of this size, that encompasses so many trades on such a tight schedule, needs to happen in order.  It did not.  I also pointed out from the beginning that there was going to be a problem with the paint.  The handyman H D Watson hired as a painter, clearly was not.  I specified Benjamin Moore, Crisp Khaki as the wall color throughout.  I was very surprised to come in the house and find the "painter" using a Behr all in one paint and primer, that he had color matched.  I don't know of any painter who would chose Behr over Benjamin Moore to work with.  Furthermore, the paint was sloppy, and this guy had the whole room taped off.  Real painters don't need to use tape.  I pointed out at that moment, I didn't like Behr paint and the work was sloppy.  "Don't worry."  was the reply I got from Herb.  "Let me worry for you."  As I would come to find out, that was his answer for everything and you'll see where that got me. 

None of the doors or door frames were properly primed and all are now chipping.  I afraid, exposing lead based paint to my 4 and 2 year old children.  I sent Herb a email two months ago with pictures, that he has yet to respond to.

I am still missing ceiling registers on my second floor.  The registers we do have were spray painted in the rain, in my yard on a 5 gallon bucket by Herb Watson (without being cleaned or primed first).

Paint was finished into the hardwood floor. 

Job was to be completed in 30 days.  As of today, it is four months past due and still not complete.  I doubt it ever will.  I found out alot about this company after I was living in the home and getting to know the subs and employees of HD Watson.  I was asked to pay subs directly, because the company didn't have the funds.  A employee was even asked to not deposit his payroll check until the following week. 

The only communication I've recieved from H D Watson in the last two months was a letter from a attorney representing HD Watson demanding the balance owed of $4000, with the threat of a mechanic's lien.  I've paid $46,000.00 directly to various subs and HD Watson.  I'm afraid I will never have this contract completed if I pay the balance.

Everything went great.  I liked the people we worked with.  They were very reliable, honest, and personable.  The total price was reasonable.
