On January 30, 2019 we signed a contract with this company for the above services. We paid $6050 downpayment on a $9700 project. On February 8, after tearing out the existing patio and clearing out the debris, Richard Gibson requested and addition $1500 claiming hardship due to his wife's illness, and promising that he would finish the job. Feeling sorry for him, we paid an additional $1500. The total paid as of February 8, 2019 is now $7550, leaving a balance of $2150 on the $9700 project. Richard Gibson and his crew removed the existing patio and cleaned and hauled away the debris. Richard Gibson and his crew have not performed any work on the project since February 8, 2019. For over 60 days, we have gotten all sorts of excuses, promises... from his wife being ill, to him being in the hospital with chest pains on March 29. In the meantime, the patio that he tore out is an overgrown, hazardous eyesore. My 71st birthday/party/cookout celebration had to be held somewhere else. My great nephews birthday celebration had to be held at a restaurant, instead of the scheduled cookout at my home. Access to the backyard is hazardous as well have to navigate over the rough, overgrown area, and step over the 4 inch framework; husband has tripped several times. Again, we're in our 70's and cannot afford a 'fall'. At this point, we're out of $7550 and all we have is an overgrown eyesore. We have fired Richard Gibson, requested a $4550 refund and seeking another contractor to finish the job that he abandoned. I would NEVER recommend him or his company, as I wouldn't want ANYONE to experience this...

None of the work was completed on time. The contractor did not communicate changes to schedule. 3 mos after final completion the driveway started cracking. The company put caulk/epoxy in the crack (it looks horrible). Worked with them (constantly having to badger them to get in touch with me) for over 7 months, nothing but continued excuses why it hasn't properly been corrected. Have now gone to the BBB to ask for assistance with contractor. Contractor also damaged several irrigation lines that were clearly marked and would not repair we had to pay almost $3K to fix damage they caused.

Not enough clean up or attention to details. Did not flair into the street as it should have been.

The man who came out did an excellent job. I was very happy with what he did. He was very good with his price. In fact, he beat all the prices of the people that were on Angie's List and he did a good job as well. I have a very long driveway and most of the people had been asking over $8,000 and he did it less than that. He was excellent on everything. Gibson Concrete is a good company.

This is in response to our new home bought july of 2010 of which all the concrete was handled by Richard Gibson of Gibson Concrete. 2010 was the winter of that huge snow storm for hampton roads sometime in December, and i certainly salted my driveway during that storm 6 months after the concrete had been laid. A few months after Dec. I started noticing what looked like etching in my driveway and that the finish could be kicked up with the toe of my sneaker. After some research online of different concrete forums, with a range of people from guys sticking up for what they had observed throughout their lives, and professionals who read and attend conventions about concrete, there seemed to be a recurring message that a bad job is just a bad job. I learned that a lot of "pros" similar to Richard's company may cheat whatever process that the concrete has to go through by tampering with the inspected and passed original mix (especially on domestic jobs where an inspector isn't always around). I HAD TO PAY $300 DOLLARS TO FIX A BRAND NEW DRIVEWAY AND I HAD TO GET MY BUILDER TO MAKE RICHARD GIBSON FINALLY RETURN MY PHONE CALLS. I want more concrete work done but it's not going to be from this company.
