When I first met Gary, I was really impressed and knew I wanted him for the job. He made a truly wonderful impression. I have always thought that I have a good reliable " gut feeling " about people, since this job occurred, however, I am not so sure. Anyhow, Gary seemed like a nice guy ( which I have a feeling he is, actually ) and he seemed to know the trade, so I hired him. The first thing that happened is that he agreed to be at my house one day early in the morning. However, he did not show up, instead his daughter and another person did. During my initial interview with Gary, I asked if he would be doing the work himself and he said that he would. Fine, the others did the first part of the work. They stripped the wallpaper and they painted some trim work. Even though I had agreed with Gary on doing one bathroom at a time, he insistd that both bathrooms be stripped and painted the same day. I should not have allowed him to talk me into that, but he did. That's partially my fault for not insisting on our agreement, but his sob story of having such a long drive to my house made me give in. I regretted this later. Finally, the day came when Gary came over himself to hang the wall paper. The work was not great. Below I have included a photo which shows the work right above the vanity. Hopefully, the photo shows how sloppy that corner of the room turned out. There were other places where the wallpaper was very loose, especially above the shower walls. Fortunately, I had someone else take care of those places later. When it came time to do the second bathroom, Gary told me that he was sick, so we agreed to wait till the following week to talk about the second job. I called again the following week. This time I was told he had hurt his shoulder and that he would need time. The following week I received a call from a person at the company ( I a believe the caller's name was Diana, but I cannot be sure about that ). I was told that Gary would be in touch the following week. That was about a month ago or so, and of course, I have not heard from him. I have a personal theory as to why that is, but it is just a theory. I had previously discussed with Gary that there is a place in the first bathroom that needs to be looked at ( the corner above the vanity ) and that some of the seams needed to be secured. I don't think he wanted to mess with it so he left me with the remainder of the work. I did get lucky, however, with the second company I hired to do the second bathroom, a company called Joyce's wallpapering. She and her son did a really nice job, I wish I had dealt with them the entire time. Bottom line is that while Gary may be a pretty decent guy, his work leaves much to be desired and he is unreliable. It hurts me to write this, but that was my experience in this case. Thank you for listening and good luck to all of you !
